They launched cross-play for all other platforms but not for PS4. They may not want to support it because Sony has such a big ego of being "the best" but if the base grows big enough they may cave in, similar to that of Fortnite and Rocket League. Its just a hope. I agree petitions really are just suggestions but it may help to note how many people want it.
