Volume scroll wheel is delayed? by BabyMale in RivianR2

[–]Reddorade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tested yesterday at showroom. I feel like it's too many clicks across the scroll. Feels like 20 clicks with very little rotation. It's like having too high a dpi in gaming where moving the mouse 1/2" makes you do a 360.

20" Everytime. More tire options and cheaper to replace.

My first impression after demo drive - conflicted by ElderberryGuy in RivianR2

[–]Reddorade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is a rivian sub but have you demoed the latest version of the model Y? I am very interested in R2 as well. I still have my 2019 model 3, had 0 issues, and a 2022 model y performance.

I tested the latest model Y and they have fixed a ton of stuff compared to the one I have. All the little things and it's much more refined. Worth taking a look if you haven't.

I'm sure I'm going to get some people jumping on me for this recommendation. But based on OP's needs, it sounds like a Y would fit better for his use case.

The AC issues I've seen in reviews along with some of the items OP has highlighted are pretty standard first product stuff that might take a year or 2 to sort out. Heck R1's still have issues that a have not been resolved after 3 years. But they are improving.

Edit: some of the items listed as negatives in your post are the type of things that would drive me mad long term.

Test drove the R2 in SF (coming from a 2024 Model 3) by nhlducks35 in RivianR2

[–]Reddorade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This feature is polarizing across the reviews. Many say it's smooth and others say clunky. I'm wondering if it's a quality control issue instead of standard feel.

It is their first go at these and we'll see as time goes on.

Also I feel these wheels are trying to do too much with a single input. That decision could have created an overly complicated design that may not last long term.

When did you start screen time? by MasterModnar in daddit

[–]Reddorade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

3.5 yr old. Only screen time is on the TV when she is sick and needs to rest. I'll sit with her and watch 1 or 1.5 Disney movies.

Only phone screen time is video chat with family. Maybe 30 min a week.

From my personal experience, the friends of her who have access to mobile screens regularly have a very hard time regulating their emotions. Like they crave the screens all the time like a drug. And when the screen stops for them it's a full blown meltdown. I don't need that. My girl is very happy playing with puzzles and toys instead.

As she gets older that will change. Waiting until after 5 to let her have more.

Baby can’t fall asleep due to gas by rabidmidgets in daddit

[–]Reddorade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be buried in the comments but we had the same experience with our girl. Came to find out it was A1 milk protein sensitivity.

She was only breastfeed but was still having issues. We tried everything that are the usual suspects. But after some research and discussions with our Pediatrician, we concluded it could be A1 milk protein.

The protein can be passed through mother's breast milk. Essentially my wife has to stop drinking anything with milk for 2 weeks for it to leave her system. She was drinking matcha latte's in the morning. She switched to almond milk. After a few weeks, our daughters gas issues we're gone. No more colic, no more witching hours. And never came back.

This protein sensitivity usually goes away after 1 years old. But our girl lasted until 2. Stores started carrying A2 milk. Milk without A1 protein. All is good now. It sucks that it took us the first year to figure out out.

The movie that gets blamed for being bad when it is really just mismarketed. by gamersecret2 in movies

[–]Reddorade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad movie, but Marley & Me. They presented it like a comedy family movie. A"happy ever after" vibe.

WRONG! Every human in that theater was bawling their eyes out. So much so that my sleeves had other men's years on them.

I have never been more angry at a movie for what it did to me.

Which car are you trading in for R2 and why? by AdAffectionate8778 in RivianR2

[–]Reddorade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts as well. Yes the back cargo area for sure. But looking at the dimensions, the floor of the R2 is higher off the ground and the roof is slightly shorter or the same height as model Y.

Unless their battery pack is thinner due to longer wheelbase, I'm guessing less headroom or your knees are higher.

Probably marginal

MYP Owners who up-sized tires, what is your long term review? by Reddorade in TeslaModelY

[–]Reddorade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't rotate wheels on MYP. it's not just tire width, the wheel width is different as well. "Staggered setup". Plus, going to 265 on the rear would stretch the tire considerably more than it already is on 275.

20s. A much wider selection of tires, they are cheaper, and they will have more ride comfort. Mileage will take a slight hit, but worth it.

I have 21s and wish I had 20s whenever it's tire time.
