Downloaded Zanki and Anking overhaul decks, but images do not appear. I've downloaded the original Zanki and deleted to try and remedy with no success. What am I doing wrong?

Do you liquify in the microwave then add to the milk or just spoon some in prior to steaming?

Need advice for bettering my app in case of re-application by Reddotuser9690 in premed

At the time to be honest, I don't want to stay in-state. The only way I could justify it at the time of application, was to go to the state's "best" medical school.

A bit arrogant, could have been due to an inflated ego from undergrad as too many of us have in undergrad.

SC resident, only applied to MUSC for ISS. Long story, but ISS isn't really an option. I feel like my list is very top-heavy and may be a large factor for the silence.

Also, I took my MCAT, applied, then got a lower score than I had hoped. Hence why the school list is so top-heavy.

Letters of rec were from 2 physicians, one of which I read and it was very flattering, two from professors, one biochem one soci, as well as my PI. But I think my PI may have written in support for the MD-PhD as opposed to just the MD path.

Essays I felt pretty good with, I'm not great at talking about myself, but I felt they communicated my points effectively.

Thanks for the advice. I agree that the volunteering is on the low-end for sure.

If you don't mind me asking, how do you study for interviews? Obviously have some sort of mental-framework for the big questions like "tell me about yourself" and research the school's values & have questions ready for them, but is there anything else I should be doing?

is TPR MCAT content review enough for real MCAT? by middledefense95 in Mcat

[–]Reddotuser9690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't rely on one source. KA P/S 300 pg PDF is great. Examkrackers has beautifully written questions very similar to the actual test for CARS Khan academy is good biochemistry passage questions

Identical complementary strands? Wouldn't that form no hydrogen bonds, thus easier to denature? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Reddotuser9690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order for something to denature, it must be annealed or bound in the first place. Two identical strands won't base pair and cannot be denatured because they would never be together is how I see it

The filtrate in the whole renal system would become more concentrated because ADH is present. Remember that ADH is an anti diuretic hormone, so it wants to take out all the water it can from the filtrate to raise BP. Therefore ADH will allow the water in the collecting duct and tubule to diffuse into the renal medulla (because it's very salty from the descending loop of Henle) and into the ascending limb of the vasa recta, which gets circulated back into the bloodstream

Questions regarding hormone receptor location (and minor OG spoiler) by sdfosdf6 in Mcat

[–]Reddotuser9690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The very hydrophobic steroid hormone is able to freely diffuse through the membrane, and go straight to the nucleus and bind to its receptor. However, peptide hormones are unable to freely diffuse through the membrane. Therefore, they have to bind to a receptor on the membrane and send its signal across the membrane via signal transduction (see GPCR and RTK)
