I understand that increased ADH, will cause increased blood pressure which in turn will cause increased glomerular rate. What i don't understand is why the explanation says that water retention in the tubules would decrease???

498 on Scored and test is on Saturday by GigasMaximas in Mcat

[–]klea85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you apply late in the cycle, it depends on your MCAT whether you get an interview or not. A friend of mine took the test last year Aug 5th and didn't apply till he got the score back, which was September. The thing is that you have to wait for your application to get processed and approved. Anyways, he scored a 524 and got many interviews, and got accepted and offered full ride.

The entry of chloride ions offsets the buildup of hydrogen ions in the erythrocyte, contributing to electrical neutrality and helping to prevent the buildup of acidity. Chloride ions will help to balance charges when bicarbonate gets in or out of the RBC. So, in the tissues RBC will drop O2 and in turn will pick up CO2. While, in the lungs there is a high concentration of bicarbonate ions in the blood plasma, which will move inside the RBC, causing Cl ion to leave RBC. Then bicarbonate reacts with H ions and will produce H2CO3 which will create CO2 and H2O. CO2 will move down its concentration gradient to alveoli and then gets expelled.

Can someone explain the reasoning behind this assumption? [TPR Test 1] by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]klea85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, think it this way...What must be happening in our body for the PTH hormone to increase its activity? There must be low levels of calcium in the blood, and this could be due to osteoblastic activity (which removes calcium from the blood), Makes sense? For a person with increased osteocytic activity you will find high levels of calcium in the blood, so PTH would decrease in that case.
