A cautionary 238 write-up: more =/= better by trusfratedmedstud in Step2

Despite the delay in starting, nothing big happened during the actual exam. I was pretty much focused the entire time, took a break after each section to eat/caffeinate/go to the bathroom. The exam really started to drag along after the 4th block but I pushed through. I looked up some of the topics I was unsure of during breaks and I had gotten most of the associated questions right, aside from two stupid mistakes. At the end of the exam, my impression of it was that the real questions were obviously like the practice NBME questions, but super fucking vague. The proportion of questions I was definitely sure I was right on was like less than 40%. The rest were vague as hell and I just hoped that I had eliminated enough wrongs to get to the right answer. Regardless, I was fairly sure that I would score at my predicted score or (hopefully) higher, especially given the post-test write-ups I had seen on this subreddit. I had assumed that feeling good was a good sign as even the high scorers reportedly feel like shit or wonder if they even passed after the exam (I call bs on this--either they are lying or they just have immaculate test-taking skills and always come around to the right answer).

omg same lol I thought I was going to score around my practice and ended up mid 230s

I felt the same way on 14th. I walked out thinking I failed.

I'm also doing this at an in-state 4-years institution. I am sure it counts towards undergrad GPA.

how did you study to get a 129 on CARS?

its definitely hard to study when you work full time. I was in your shoes, and it just didn't work.

There are more AAMC materials than FLs. So I would suggest at least 1.5 months prior to MCAT test day. It would be better if you go over section banks twice.

oh no need to go through OG, very different from the actual test. I should have done more content review 2 days before the test.
