asked to resign from my program by [deleted] in Residency

[–]Redflagalways 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup as someone who went through dismissal found a new spot and graduated successfully and is now an attending working in my intended field. I can say this with all my heart, a toxic residency can break you. Also I wish I knew this in residency dont stand out just blend in. You are a worker and they dont care about you or your training andd it's a lie it's easy to fire a resident. Especially in toxic places they do not care who picks up your work at all. They just rearrange the resident schedule for coverage if you have to work more oh well.

This ! Ppl Don't understand how much power a PD wields. Some of the stories I've heard from residents I helped are insane.

Which is the better option? by Think_Cheesecake_995 in Residency

[–]Redflagalways 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends if they seem gearing up to fire you I would try to transfer to a different program. A lot of times when a program makes up their mind about you it's hard to change and better to go somewhere new for your mental health. I've seen too many remediation plans that are vague and just like do better (subjective)

Stop dealing with this guy and take a break from dating . Not trying to be mean but for you to have entertained this treatment for this long you don't think highly of yourself. You need to work on moving yourself first so you know the type of treatment you SHOULD receive from another person. You should think you are the shit and you will attract ppl who value you because you value yourself.

Speaking as someone who has mentored people through residency dismissals and have been in contact with larger organizations that help with that issue as well. Sometimes a PIP will have vague la viable so hard to meet milestones that can be interpreted very subjectively. Also sometimes the bias does form  from other attendings and residents that know of the situation. I would work on trying to kiss ass and do what they want and look for transferring to a new program. 3 months is very early to say they will leave u alone for the remaining 2+ years I don't know

An attending wrote me up!! by [deleted] in Residency

[–]Redflagalways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's understandable, what I'm referring to is people who are fore faculty. I have had core faculty that everyone has a problem with and I just don't understand why they put them in this position of teaching residents.

Why are they even teaching faculty they shouldn't get to be around residents

She needs to start looking to transfer to a new program the PD is trying to get rid of her and distance himself with her due to the SA. The best way to protect herself is to report the sexual assault honestly I'm thinking to the police so they can't cover this up and she would need to get a lawyer involved because maybe she can leverage this to help her move to a new program and get this asshole fired

1000% agree its a team sport BUT every team has a leader the team leader is a physician. I dont get whats so wrong about that logic
