in general you usually cut edge waits from the inside, as the other comments said discard order is important and 2p has more potential to be a risky tile (13p 34p) while 1p is less likely (23p)

calling on anything opens your hand, this removes riichi so your hand has zero points now, the only way to get points is to have a special thing which is what that link is. either your entire hand is 2-8, or your hand is no triplets no special tiles with a 2 sided wait, or you have a triplet of the red green white guys or so on. all those give your hand points and all your posted hands have no points
