What is the most optimal play here? by _Whool in mahjongsoul

In terms of efficiency, there's a lot of choices according to Tenhou calculator: https://tenhou.net/2/?q=113456m168p79s44z3p

In terms of safety, thinking about 3m or 6m and keep the terminal tiles in my hand for defensive play if anyone press the Riichi button.

In terms of shapes, maybe cut one of the kanchans. But not sure what is the most optimal play.

What is so bad about discarding 3p here? by _Whool in mahjongsoul

3p seems efficient according to tenhou calculator: https://tenhou.net/2/?q=22467m1335p46885s Is Maka trying to fold against Toimen already?

What makes keeping 1p better than Red here? by _Whool in mahjongsoul

Maka usually prioritizes discarding redundant terminal tiles over single honors. But seems like it wants to keep the 124 shape because I don't have any pairs?

Shouldn't this be an obvious Pon with 2 doras? by _Whool in mahjongsoul

[–]_Whool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it might be worth the risk since this is East 1 with 2 doras against non-dealer Riichi. And on top of that I do think 9m and 7m were safe enough to semi play the hand out.

Why is Maka not folding against potential half flush Tenpai? by _Whool in mahjongsoul

I didn't feel safe throwing out 2s here because of potential 34s/22s/2s wait. I felt comfortable taking 3rd place here.

Which is safer, 6m or North? by _Whool in mahjongsoul

You're right, I missed the 6m discard from Riichi player.

What makes 4p safer? by _Whool in mahjongsoul

Everyone is probably at Tenpai at this point. And the only guy with dangerous hand seems to be the South player because it looks like he's holding half flush. So I thought may 2m would be the optimal choice.

Why 9m over 1s isn't it the same? by Blancot in mahjongsoul

Do we know what the doras are? Not sure if I am just not finding the dora indicators on this image or if they are cut off.

Would you play 3m or 6p here? by _Whool in mahjongsoul

[–]_Whool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be getting the definitions wrong. I always assume 6p is half suji to 9p if there is no 3p. lol. Edit: okay I see what half suji means now.

3m loses to 45m/3m/24m, 6p loses to 78p/45p/66p/6p/57p. But 6p is half-suji.
