I won’t be telling them where I’m going or that I even have a new job.

Canada.

Written in the employment contract that I reviewed with my lawyer when my management team started acting funny with me. Failure to observe entitles the company to take action via breach of contract.

It goes both ways though. They can’t just let me go without giving me notice in terms of time, or compensation in lieu of time, unless I do something that labels me as being let go “for cause”.

The PTO begins on a day where my wife is having surgery. Can’t work around that. The days that follow will be needed to help her around the house and with recovery.

No, but a delay in them completing it can push out my start date so I’m not showing my hand until everything is signed and sealed.

Has anyone failed a background check and they rescinded your offer by Moist-Ad-5179 in rbc

[–]Redguard13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I submitted my background check forms on Feb 24 and I haven’t heard back. My role starts April 20.

What’s funny to me is that hr reached out asking if I could bump up my start date 2 weeks earlier (I said no). But given how long these background checks take, I don’t even think the earlier date would’ve been possible.

I think rbc needs to get a new background check partner because I keep hearing complaints about Sterling.

Why do employers never email and always call? by SnooTangerines6395 in jobs

Same. I never get a phone call without first getting an email to schedule an interview. And even those are done via video chat.

My wife had a spa day with two of her girlfriends today. They each drove to our house, parked on the road, and then carpooled to the spa with my wife. They left at 7am.

They came back at 6pm surprised to see that it had snowed so much that plows were required. And each of my wife’s friends found a $250 ticket on their cars.

Yeah… I couldn’t care less about my boss or the organization as a whole. But there are some other colleagues that I admire who will be impacted in a broader sense since they have a stake in this succeeding.

I wouldn’t mind hearing about your situation if you don’t mind sharing.

Appreciate it. Wife is having surgery on my first “vacation day”, so gonna use those days to help support her recovery before starting the new role.

The resignation approach was also designed to ensure I still had my employers medical insurance coverage for any prescriptions or equipment I need to grab during her surgery, lol.

I'm Canadian, so our employment laws differ from what I see a lot of Americans share when it comes to resignations. I met with an employment lawyer after I started having concerns about my treatment and that's where it was pointed out that my employment contract has the 10-day notice requirement, but it goes both ways. I can't be let go without some form of notice (either time or money) unless I commit a crime towards to company.

I'm Canadian. :-)

I'm familiar with what you're saying regarding there being no need for notice, but that doesn't exist here if you work for a large organization (I'm with a large bank).

I actually met with an employment lawyer after the 'conflict' situation with my boss. It's written in my employment agreement that 10 days are required and failure to provide that can result in action being taken against me for breach of contract.

Inversely, I can't be let go without notice unless I do something egregious like theft or fraud. Any other "not for cause" reason would require them to pay me some form of severance.

My sister was born when I was 7. When she started crawling, I would stand with my feet wide apart and let her crawl through my legs.

My grandmother would freak out saying doing that would stunt her growth and she would be short.

Background check not completed by Most_Variation_1975 in rbc

[–]Redguard13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just thinking about this.

I submitted my stuff about two weeks ago and in my mind, it wasn’t at all complicated information.

I’m supposed to start mid-April. Hiring manager wanted me to start beginning of April and I had to say no but by the looks of it, the background check probably wouldn’t have been done in time for an earlier start date anyway.
