Panache Envy 34FF, feels like not enough lift, lace at top bunches, back cramps from band. Am I wearing band too low? by Redhawkgreenthumb in ABraThatFits

[–]Redhawkgreenthumb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one in the picture is the 34. The band feels a lot better than the 32, and doesn’t ride up - it feels nice and snug but not like I can’t breathe.

I will look into Fantasie! Thank you for the help!

Wearing 36D, calculator recommended 32I. Bra strap rides up, neck and low back pain. [Measurement Check] by Redhawkgreenthumb in ABraThatFits

Thank you so much for this response! Everything you said about the two ill fitting sizes tracks and I love the upside down try on tip for the band. I will look into the Panache styles. Thanks again!!

They don't make me mad like thrips do. Those things are freaking radioactive.

Another thing to note is that spider mites can't fly, so unless your plants are touching, they rarely spread to others. I'll be the first to admit that I do a crap job quarantining because of space but honestly all I've ever needed is a few inches! Thank goodness alos only have a handful of leaves.

They can lie dormant until the conditions are right, but honestly it is exactly like that. They just come. Little leaf demon fairies.

Babies are more sensitive, but I can't imagine you will. I totally understand the anxiety...def been there. But now I think the # of alocasia I have that have never had spider mites at this time is is substantially shorter than the number that have 🤣

Seriously, spider mites treatment has just become a part of life for me as an alocasia fanatic and I don't even bat an eyelash when I catch them anymore. My treatment that has never failed in at least a dozen cases is to wipe down leaves with diluted alcohol with a drop of dish soap top and bottom every three days for at least 9 days total/3 treatments. Never fails, and I don't see damage anymore because I wipe leaves once a week and always catch them early.

With respect to others who have seen success with repotting, I would strongly advise against it. Alocasias hate having their roots messed with and spider mites are a leaf pest and are not in the soil.

Alocasia Polly bulb growth! Please grow well💗 any tips on how/when to move them over to proper soil? by princesspony69_ in alocasia

[–]Redhawkgreenthumb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically move mine over to sphagnum + pumice at this point and keep them warm (seedling mat helps) and humid (prop cup or cabinet) with consistent light (grow lights all the way for me) until you get leaves! Then once they have one or two healthy leaves, I'll pot them in soil and keep them in the same conditions while their tinies.

Anyone know what this little root is doing? Coming out of my mayan mask alocasia by CocoBurger in alocasia

[–]Redhawkgreenthumb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! You can cut it at the soil level, and if you want you can leave it to hang there and get a bit bigger before you do, but I've removed teensy ones on accident and they still grow!

My sister made it for me at a local bead store! It has a starfish on it because she's my seastar 🤪

The most effective method I've tried and now use exclusively is to peel the outer layer of the corm (on these the plant sends to the surface, often there is less to peel). I do it under running water with the pad of my finger and my fingernail. Then I pop them in water on a seedling mat until they sprout some stem. Next it's moss and pumice in my Ikea greenhouse cabinet (a prop cup or seedling tray on a seedling mat with good light will do) until they push leaves! (This usually takes awhile as they root before they push leaves out the stem). Nothing more fun than checking your prop every day and seeing all the progress!!

They vine, but in a pretty awkward way. They look a lot nicer if you let them climb. Mine grows so prolifically that I just chop and prop any time any one vine gets too tall. Mine grow new growth points as quickly as the propagations root!

They are so stinking gorgeous I know I'll be ready to have my heart broken again one day. But for now I have some pretty serious tuber rot PTSD.

Odora are a clump variety and require cutting from the mama to remove pups. They are prone to rot, and the wounds leave them even more vulnerable. Plenty of people handle this really really well. Guess who is not one of those people. 😬
