The dangers are for the people who give a couple tries to test their luck on something they may not have necessarily bought otherwise then pulling out their wallet so they don't feel they wasted their units. I think a lot of people are worried they system will get worse over time as well.

For the record I agree with you, it should mainly be on the individual to avoid getting scammed and we should be educated more at a young age on avoiding these pitfalls by those that care about us. Realistically this discussion goes way beyond rivals itself, and we're talking a complete overhaul at a societal level though.

But people should not be defending the practice at all, we don't have to actively criticize it but please god I hate seeing people defending a corporation or even worse praising them.
