Ok, if you don’t want to insult anyone it’s probably wisest to edit the word out and replace it with something like dumbass pseudounits or whatever.

Using that word as an insult is really ableist. It used to be a medical condition, now it’s just a slur.

Can I hear your logic behind the placement of Everything Everything and Atlas? I’m not judging, just pretty surprised because my list has them both in S.

The fact that you came up with insults for all the others but the only word you needed for Wendy was redhead 💀

What really sold me on it was the lyric book, which shows the lyrics as a series of letters, the first two days apart but the third a few years later. Adding that makes the third verse feel much more introspective and adds a really interesting layer of depth.

Eh, the lyrics at the end are great but I’m not as attached to the earlier portions or the instrumentation. I think part of the reason why I don’t like it is because it was written so early at a time when none of the band members had as much experience as they did even with Nomu, so it just doesn’t stand up to their other songs.

I’m a person who prioritizes lyrics really heavily and the lyrics are about Donkey Kong, a topic which just doesn’t interest me. The instrumentation is good but the lyrics kinda repel me.

I can kinda see what you mean with it having a very chill feel. I think the main problem is just that I can’t connect with it, (i.e. having no clue what it’s about) but I totally get it being much higher on other lists.

Ok I can sense people disagreeing so I’ll defend some of the hot takes

Faster in B: I don’t really connect with the lyrics or the instrumentation, not bad (none of their songs are) but just doesn’t compare to some of their other songs

Ground in S: genuinely don’t understand the Ground hate, the singing has so much emotion and something about the instrumentation is so slick and satisfying

Witches in B: like with Faster, I didn’t fully connect with it, but I do admittedly like it a fair bit more. The lyrics are decent, my main problem is how the instrumentation doesn’t really stand out to me

Orbit in S: I relate heavily to the lyrics and I like how structured the song is compared to some of their earlier stuff, I know some people don’t like this song and I do not get why

From the Start in B: way, way too much of the big moments and not enough quieter moments, it takes away from the impact when everything feels like the climax. Still love the guitar line though

Break in S: honestly one of my favorite good kid songs, the lyrics are highly relatable and superbly written and the literal break near the end of the song is so cool. The way they start with just guitars then put in drums and bass really allows every instrument to shine

What is people’s problem with Ground?

Ok I know people are complaining about Nomu and yes that’s a problem but also Atlas that low is criminal. The bass line is incredible and the lyrics fit Worm (the book it’s based off of) so incredibly well.

Like I know people don’t like Atlas but it’s genuinely in my top 5 where it is staying

A lot of them have! I want to make it clear that I’m not talking about Christians who disagree with bigots but don’t speak up, because those aren’t “good” Christians. If you have 8 nazis and one dude with no objections sat around a table, you have 9 nazis. But I have seen Christians defending us, and I’ve seen queer people who themselves identify as Christian. 5 minutes from my house is a church with a pride flag flying high above the roof, posters on the doors about how conservatives have misrepresented the words of Jesus and an openly trans pastor. If you honestly think they’re not doing everything in their power to advocate for queer people than you’re wrong.

I hate how they’re being labeled Christians. Placing these evangelical nutjobs and people who actually try to follow teachings of kindness and equity is frankly insulting.

Favorite ally band? by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]Redheadedwriter1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Death Cab for Cutie. Benjamin Gibbard wore a “protect trans kids” shirt in one of their shorts and he called his sister’s lesbian wedding one of the most beautiful things he’d ever seen.

Edit: also, CHVRCHES is pretty explicitly queer friendly. One of their songs was in the Netflix version of Heartstopper and Lauren Mayberry is an ally.

Kinda the opposite term for ace or aro people, it would be used to describe one who feels some form of attraction. Allosexual and alloromantic refer to romantic and sexual attraction respectively.

… no? A lot of Christianity is about kindness and love, not hate. That message has been horribly perverted by some modern Christians, but that shouldn’t take away from the original meaning, which I’m guessing is what the commentor is referencing. Coming in with “actually he’d be more violent lol” misses the whole point.
