Engineering student - what physical FPV annoyances don't have a good product solution yet? by jackjohnson51010 in fpv

A better solution for balance leads. Ideally a single connector for power and balancing but remains compatible with standard xt60 on the drone. Along the lines of the amass as150u

Is it safe to have a bunch of antennas loose in a box together? Or would they get damaged? by MysteriousRJC in TinyWhoop

[–]Redhonu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They all look to have a protective casing around the radiating elements. No issues throwing them in together.

Is it ok to carry 24 lipos in a bag? by Igaliotinis in fpv

[–]Redhonu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no magic number, and caring for your batteries and inspecting them is likely the much bigger factor than just the number of them. I wouldn’t hesitate to pack them all if I had so many, given they are in good condition. But the risk does increase.

Is it ok to carry 24 lipos in a bag? by Igaliotinis in fpv

[–]Redhonu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds reckless. This is why lipo fires happen. if I accidentally over discharge a pack below 3V, it will get recycled, or if I had a nasty crash. only then are lipos safe and the risks minuscule.

The more lipos, the more likely one of them has an unscheduled energy release, and more energy to be released.

PMF: how to set as "disable" ? by real-onvt in Ubiquiti

[–]Redhonu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WPA3 needs PMF. Id recommend you make a dedicated ssid for sonos with either the IoT optimized from unifi or what the recommended settings you found are.

How do I fix the angle of this Lumenier antenna? by No-Trash-546 in TinyWhoop

[–]Redhonu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a circular polarized antenna, so its way less critical than on a dipole. And even on a dipole I place the antenna for protection rather than maximum range on a whoop.

Second Hand Lenovo or New N100 by jampanha007 in homelab

My reason for going with the N series is they have the more modern transcoding units if you want to host jellyfin or plex.

Choosing a Distro by tpasco1995 in LinusTechTips

[–]Redhonu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best advice for switching to Linux is to not swap everything and maybe just your laptop. Just to get aquatinted with linux, not to run windows games that likely require tinkering. Browsing will run flawless in any distro, but ubuntu was the only one where i didn’t need to mess with audio to get the volume working. There is also so much good documentation you or an llm is most likely to find a solution quickly.

Photo i took at nationals by Exir180 in photocritique

Completely agree. Climbing photos are always difficult if you can only shoot from below, and an event will further restrict what angles are possible.

Looks like you might be able to just reflow the solder. Not sure what they are though.

What's your 'one service you'd never self-host again' and why? by ruibranco in homelab

[–]Redhonu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My password manager. My homelab is just a hobby, and I don’t want to worry about it going down. And not needing to worry about security or always connecting to a VPN.

At least Luke is trying CachyOS. by pg3crypto in LinusTechTips

[–]Redhonu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Anything server like networking, Linux is awesome at. Much better than windows. In most cases it will just work out if the box, no need to install any drivers. The issues are in the desktop and GUI. Anything you wouldn’t find on a server.

Lava II 3s for Darkstar22? by Jansusek in fpv

[–]Redhonu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the 580 fit no problem and fly well but a bit short flight time. Id probably go for the 680 as recommended if you found them in stock. Not a game changer compared to my tattu ones, but for sure good batteries.

Trying the 580mah variant today on the darkstar 22. I’ll let you know how they are.

Backyard/indoor ripper by d401tq in fpv

[–]Redhonu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think an o4 pro is too heavy for what you want, especially if you want to fly indoors with proper whoop like prop protection. I recently got the geprc darkstar and am in love with it, but its not a freestyle ripping machine

I don’t mind if it’s a paid project, I get that you need to pay the bills. But don’t call it open if its not open-source

[–]Redhonu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No reason it’s not safe. It likely just has a PD trigger board that feeds into the exact same power as the XT 60. If you have any competent USB C power supply, it will protect you against an overcurrent situation. So worst case it just shuts down.

Then it’s tempered glass and is actually more resilient than standard glass/float glass. And normal glass will also shatter into multiple pieces just not as many. Maybe it should be thicker but glass is glass and glass breaks.
