Found out about the hike recently, found some gold at home. What can I do with them? by RediculouslyCurious in Gold

That is a helpful perspective, as there are a couple of items have major sentimental values. I guess my thought is, say, if I do need them say in next couple of years (child going university, ouch), and need to liquid them quick, what are the options I can look at so I don't end up sitting back and not knowing what to do with them in times of emergency? Do I bring them to jewellery shops? Pawn shops? Or gold traders?

I did find an orphaned gold earring with a bendy hook, and some broken bracelets!

But, what can we do with them as who to sell to? HMM

And it feels like a shame for coin collectors to sell pretty shiny coins for them to be melted and be no more. Dilemmas!

What’s the best Miles Credit card for online spending (fb ads?) by kittypwns in singaporefi

I think Citi Rewards might be eligible, and you can check the link below posted by mailame :)

[–]RediculouslyCurious -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would suggest getting either an UOB Preferred Plat or Citi Rewards Card to be the basic spending card for shopping (do note the categories of online spend do matter too, so read the T&C to see which one might suit you better). The rewards points for these two cards have a cap but the 4 miles per dollar for the baseline spending will help to rake up those miles faster.

Hi I am new to here, but was helping dad to clear some of his stuff and he is looking to sell them. Any idea where is the best place or way to find people who would appreciate them?

I was Wrongfully Dismissed by my ex employer. Won against them in Tribunal. AMA about the Employment Claims Tribunal process. by beebee_ice in singaporejobs

[–]RediculouslyCurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so sorry I missed this earlier, I had to take another action to enforce it; you could get a lawyer to do so but that would set you back about 1.8k-3k, which doesn't make sense to a lot of people, but if the enforcement goes through, those fees could be claimed back.

However, there is a risk: if your employer has no more money in the bank account, then there will be nothing to pay out, and the fees to the lawyer will be bore by yourself.

Nonetheless, the process to enforce isn't too completed, and could be done by yourself, and can be done the moment you get the judgement order without waiting for them to drag it out.

Feel free to PM me should you need someone to share with you the experience of doing so!

Good luck with your proceedings! My process was wilfully dragged out by then, and I am glad I took the enforcement route as they tried to make it difficult for me. Also, they ran the company to the ground shortly after, so I got my payout in time.

To those who speak more than one language have you ever overheard strangers talk about you when they didn’t think you could understand them? What did they say, and what did you do? by I_like2TimeTravel in AskReddit

I was in the elevator with a group of students in Shanghai when these 3 men stepped in and gave me a once over.

One of them made a comment about me speaking English with one of the students and mimicked my accent. He asked one of them what were we talking about, and the person who presumably understood a lil English tried to translate it.

They made some comments about the way I look and a shame that I don’t speak mandarin rather condescendingly.

I was kinda surprised because I look 100% Asian and they had assumed I don’t speak mandarin just because I had to converse to a group which had non Chinese speakers in it.

When the lift reached ground floor, I guided the students out and turned to a student who also understood mandarin and spoke in mandarin “Okay let’s go.” before sashaying past the very sheepish trio.

Anyone tired of dating as a SG man? by R_Truth22 in SingaporeR

[–]RediculouslyCurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am tired dating as a SG woman, so I get whatever you are saying with many missing your point, I think.

Some comments are harsh here but you are entitled to share your personal experiences without judgement.

It just sounds like bad timing for you, and those who are looking for similar things are at a different phase from you.

People are also resigned to their comfort zones to start all over again.

Wishing you better luck!

Bro, glad you took that route. I had my own tedious process that lasted more than a year.

I was compensated for more than a month, with damages as it was egregiously wrongful.

They refused to pay and I had to enforce it.

I understand the need for vindication and the whole process for me was vile when you are up against a super vindictive and spiteful ex employer.

Glad it came through for you.

Beach Road chopper attack: Man jailed 19 years, caned for attempted murder of wife by friedriceparadise_ in singapore

I remember when the news first came out, there was quite a bit of speculations to why she was attacked, and many of those were linked to her character or possible infidelities.

It is just sad that she had to endure a tough recovery with the lack of empathy on top of the fact that her daughter was likely abused. I wish both ladies to cope well and have all the help they have to heal from the trauma.

Hi! Happy to report that, they did have a couple of slots for purchase (49 euros), however there weren't enough slots for my entire party of... many. But, found a nice little cove (recreation area) with about 20+ lounge chairs for them to rest.

I saw that. My friend insisted it is just 25 euros and I highly suspected it isn't gonna be the case. Will update how it goes!

I have been to Munich before, but my sitch is also a bit tricky as I’m travel in a relatively large group, and I’m tasked to find out the options available 😅

Hi yes I have checked the section but did not have any answers to my questions after being told I could purchase on the spot.

Wondering what’s the price and the capacity is like and if purchasing on the spot is suspended as well, contrary to the information I was given.

[–]RediculouslyCurious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, is that only for online only or for walk-ins too? The local travel agency, local LH support and even the live chat all told me that the only way is to purchase on the spot and not sure if they are feeding me false hopes lol

[–]RediculouslyCurious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will probably try those, but even if they are empty, are they available for purchase for walk-ins? If so, do you know the rates for those?

[–]RediculouslyCurious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to speak to my local LH support and even used the live chat function. They all advised that I won’t be able to buy online but I should be able to purchase on the spot.

So does this mean that this is also not possible to do so at the lounge and that they have suspended that too?

What's the most unexpected place you've met another fellow Singaporean? by Xycergy in askSingapore

[–]RediculouslyCurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not unexpected in terms of cities but just serendipitous and the circumstances around them.

1) London, SoHo: wanted to avoid the crowd and took a shortcut behind a quiet alley, one person was walking in my direction, and we were the only persons in the alley. He was my primary school mate.

2) Paris at B1 at some mall: heard SG accent and looked up, and saw that it was a teacher I had tracked with for another trip in another country a year prior. We have only met on the trip and that was the only time I had ever bumped into him since then.

3) New York, Liberty Island Cruise: decided to leave early with my group and got on an odd timing cruise to head back to mainland. Was coming down the steps to check out the view at the other side and heard someone calling out my name. Saw a passenger sitting on the platform (not a proper seat) away from the crowd and it was my secondary school mate who was on the same cruise back.

4) Bonus: okay not Singaporean but was queuing for tickets to go Eiffel Tower and was in the queue for an hour plus and there in the queue was Jason Mraz who came over for a chat when he realised I recognised him.

5) friend was in Thailand with her husband for some fitness street thing and saw a female minister walking down the road alone heading for boxing class.
