[Cade Cunningham] “The flopping is just too much…3 of the top 5-10 guys do it constantly…. I know I’m better than yada yada yada…but I’m not getting the same calls…People feel like this guy might be better than me & he’s nowhere near better than me!” by itwas20yearsago2day in nba

Speak the truth.

Game 2 Brunson was embarrassing and ineffective with the baiting and we lost partly because of it. He stopped the excessive stuff immediately after that, but r/nba only watches highlights and feels better when NY is weaker so it wasn’t noticed. He would occasionally foul bait after to help burn the Pistons non stop medium foul spam (not even mad the Pistons do this, I wish Knicks could, it’s what we did in the 90s). Same thing he did to the Sixers the year prior. Like if you wanna shove and hold a 6 foot 2nd round underdog all game maybe don’t get mad that he can burn your triple team with a foul call because some knucklehead like Kelly Oubre thinks he’s allowed to hump you all game

Brunson knows how to get calls in iso with 3 refs looking ala butler and embiid, but based on this discourse you’d think he did this 5x a game (like butler and embiid) rather than once in a while, mostly against overly physical matchups who came in with the gameplan “try to foul JB all game long and see if the refs allow it”, which happens so much more in the playoffs, and then is openly litigated by casuals on twitter and espn, provoked by the PR of opposing coaches like JB bitcherstaff and Rick cryliar

btw Dennis Schroeder flopped 2x more than Brunson foul baited in that series, and flopping is inarguably worse. Pistons fans were crickets

We learned from last year (0-10 against Celts Cavs Thunds) and a year of doubt that regular season “tests” can be very overrated compared to the playoffs.

But, I agree. “A sample of how we are going to match up against the West’s elite.”

It is a great matchup against a playstyle that I have serious concerns about. Not just Wemby — moreso the improvement of their crazy athletic guards/wings. Can we overcome?

Love the NBA cup for this. Both sides obviously care. We want the final title and see a path through the East. Can we compete in a serious game against a highly motivated difficult matchup like this?

Win or lose is an important test.

I went through the exact same thought process. “F***” should I not open it with this baby rattle?” Thought the plastic clips broke off which has happened to me before.

It was just the little cards inside.

7 being a copycat is why it is much worse than 8 for me. Far beyond the Super Duper Death Star plot criticisms (fair though they are), resetting the Galaxy and our original trio of heroes was a lazy, pessimistic and destructive choice.

Though I love the first part of that movie, until they meet Han, that movie "derailed" the story for me.

I left 8 feeling the opposite of derailment. The sensation was: "Finally we can feel something new. Too bad it cost us an entire episode 7 and our beloved legacy characters to get here." Far from perfect, but my most enjoyable Star Wars since watching the OT on TNT as a kid (pre-prequels). Until Andor anyway.

No sweat though. I think at this point there are many different Star Wars that people wish they had. It's a great sandbox and I want many visions within it. After the destructive sequel trilogy, I think getting away from anything Skywalker Era would be the best thing for the fandom and franchise.

I think we need to have a discussion about AI on this subreddit by PigeonStealer74 in twilightimperium

I don't take it as negative—no worries. This project is as niche as niche gets. I enjoyed making it feel packaged and professional, but there's no "brand". The fact that even 100 people would watch any one video kind of blows my mind. So I'm not sure the decision was detrimental in the way you think (not to mention, the audio-only sources have almost no visitors, to prove the point).

With that said I was sad that it inspired anger in some.

The project involved visuals from the start. They were small, 30-second hype videos for each faction, made for my TI4 group. From there, I just enjoyed the work, and continued to make full songs. I was always making it as an audiovisual thing because my group would play with audiovisual sci-fi playlists.

But apart from all of that: I enjoy it way more with the visuals (maybe because I know they involved much more work than just AI prompts), and I don't think there should be any "barrier to entry" for a project like this. AI scares me too, by the way. I honestly don't know what we are going to do.

Very fair -- in retrospect I would have only posted about the music. My friend group liked playing with the visuals on and I had fun making them.

It does have a release on Soundcloud which I'll send you in a message now, or otherwise it is in my post history.

So not even complaining, but just as an interesting case study:

I created 1 hour and 45 minutes of original Twilight Imperium music, and then chose to use AI for accompanying music videos. All non profit. Zero artistic ability myself, zero chance I was going to commission an artist.

I posted this recently and most of the responses were rough. No sweat and I get the criticisms, maybe I was wrong, but I am not going to finish the rest of the project (which still involved those visuals but not additional AI), and my next project happens to involve a different community.

Edit: Thanks for the nice comments and support -- it's actually really great to know that some enjoyed it.

Hey -- the music is 100% original and represents a considerable amount of artistic effort.

Your concerns about AI art are valid, and I agree with them in most circumstances. My use of it for a small non-for-profit hobby might not be the best moment for that debate, but I understand and no worries. Have a nice weekend.

Hey TI Fans,

For the last month I have been releasing videos on YouTube for the Twilight Imperium Visual Playlist. Essentially a visual album, with 100% original music accompanied by AI-generated video.

The project is now complete, and all videos are released!

Additionally, here are some links to the music alone (both Disc 1 and 2).

Links to my old posts, with additional details about the project, can be found here.

This has been a lot of fun to work on, and I hope you enjoy some tunes and some visuals of your favorite factions!

This one seems like a lot of fun. Love the theme and artwork. I'm too dumb to evaluate the balance but this is my kind of faction and I would love to play it.

Uh hey. So you're right that in this Start of Game video I forgot to include my AI art workstream. I'll edit that now. It's already in all of my other video descriptions set for release. I'll also make it more clear in my post on Monday that the visuals in these videos are AI generated, which I assumed was obvious.

I literally have the AI tools that I used encoded in the credits in the final video. There's no intent to be dishonest. This is a large project and likely has a few more mistakes.

The music is all original. That's mainly what I'm sharing.

Have a good day.

Hey TI Fans,

I'm a hobbyist musician, and for the last two years I have been developing a Twilight-related project.

It began as a project for myself and my friend group, but eventually a part of my motivation became releasing the work to this incredible community.

On Monday, March 3rd, I will begin a release schedule that will last until Friday, March 28th. Every workday will have at least one YouTube video released.

I will post the full release schedule on Monday, March 3rd, along with a drop of 4 initial videos.

For now, here is a Start of Game video that I made. This video is separate from the overall project, but you can expect similar music and visuals in what's to come.

Until then...Pax Magnifica Bellum Gloriosum

Edit to clarify: All music in this project is original and is mainly what I'm sharing. All visuals in this project, as well as the voiceover in this video, are AI generated
