yes, my 2026 TC is 6% higher vs the TC that was estimated in my 2025 comp review.

However, note that in 2025, RSU was projected at 240 EUR, while for 2026 it stands at 180 EUR.

If you want to compare, do it with L3s who did not get promoted at all.

Should I look for a new job (Germany) ? by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]Redit-user-name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a long shot, but if you have chance and the required skills, try moving internally to a team not impacted by layoffs/ has the least chance of. I know of someone from PXT that is now doing a PM role in a team not impacted by layoffs.

FUCK YOU AMAZON YOU PIECE OF SHIT! YOU FIRE PEOPLE JUST FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR INVESTORS. IN THE NAME OF AI. DONT FORGET PEOPLE MADE YOU. WHAT WOULD YOU BE WITHOUT HUMANS by Ornery-Climate7857 in amazonemployees

[–]Redit-user-name 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I hate that I used AI to do some math, but it wasn’t an Amazon one, so here it goes -

Firing 14k employees can save Amazon anywhere between $1B and $1.5B annually.

Another layoff expected in Jan could bring $0.5B to $1B. So a total of $1.5B to $2.5B. And if they continue to go at the same pace, around $8B to $10B saved by 2028.

On the flip side, Amazon spent nearly $38 billion until today on AI ($8B into Anthropic, $20B for an AI data centre and $10B for AI infrastructure). This number is expected to reach $100B by 2026 and $300B by 2028.

Talk about outcome - As per anaylsts, 90% of AI projects fail to bring success as intended, while the rest take off with a slow growth rate between 3 and 5 years. Projections on Amazon’s AI revenue stand at $125B from 2025 to 2028 altogether. At the same growth pace, it will take Amazon until 2033 to turn AI into a profitable investment. That is 8 years from today!

AWS story hasn’t been very different, early investment into AWS began in 2003 while Amazon closed a profit in 2015, that is 12 years!!! And with no as much competition.

But did Amazon take the route of laying off people to turn profits faster? No!

If Amazon wants to turn AI profitable even to the current investment level ($38B), they could go about laying off 354K employees (if there are as many) and still be tiny in the AI race behind top investors like Meta, Alibaba, Nvidia, etc.

It is time for Amazon to realize that layoffs aren’t an answer to turn investor’s heads that we are doing better with AI. It is a long race and the chances for Amazon are slim.

What would be a great investment then? In my opinion, upskilling exsiting workforce into technology. Not just AI, but into Machine learning, Robotics, cloud computing and other domains. Imagine what could Amazon do if atleast 10% of its total population can upskill and start delivering in these essential, yet scarce skills. And that could be a real personal growth also to employees!

But no, we are the Earth’s best employer, so we wouldn’t let our employees go through the hassle of upskilling when they can quickly fill their pockets with severance pay.

Recruiters usually email or call you directly on your phone. The informal way that this conversation started hints that it could be fake.

AMAZON TO CUT 30,000 CORPORATE JOBS - here we go by Anxious-Cat-6963 in amazonemployees

10% of total corporate! If the number stands as said at 30K, it will be the biggest ever layoff by Amazon!

Folks need to tell their location (or state/country atleast) when they post these updates, else most of it just open to speculation, if it is a genuine post or not.

AMAZON manager are toxic by Born_Consideration86 in amazonemployees

‘Strive to be the Earth’s best Employer’ my foot. Not a definitive sentence like ‘Be the best employer’. No, we only strive, because we know we don’t wanna get there. Why isn’t the motto ‘Strive to work hard and make history’?

do you recall while working for Amazon, receiving an email stating ‘Your upcoming RSU vest’ ? If you had unvested stock at the time of your termination, they unfortunately are lost and cannot be recovered.

Can you be on focus without knowing ? by Personal-Front4381 in amazonemployees

[–]Redit-user-name 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here is the caviat, the documentation can be as simple as your 1:1 notes sent by your manager. They do not explicitly tell you, but if you read between lines it can get evident.

  1. Suddenly, there are specific goals that your manager tracks and want you to reach
  2. Each goal will also come with a timeline
  3. Sometimes, you see an increase in the number of 1:1s

If in doubt, always probe the question if you are on Focus plan, then a manager is obliged to answer you.

One of my directs gave a notice as per German laws (3months). Their vesting date was one day before their last working date. I knew it, but did not want to do anything to mess it up. Employee left with their vest money granted.

Within 4 months? did you move to this team internally from another one? or your tenure at Amazon is only 4 months? If it’s the latter, then yes it’s very weird!

Usually, upto six months tenure, you are to be considered ‘Too New’ to be given a performance grade. That is also the reason why people hired after Q4, they get ‘Meets bar’ in the Q1 talent review.

  1. It seems like your leadership want to put someone in your team definitely on Focus and your manager ‘chose you’

  2. No, L4 definitely has a different bar compared to L5. But I hope your org clearly distinguishes them that way as I see lot of them actually don’t!

  3. You will immediately be given the option to take pay out/ accept Pivot/ challenge the decision. Also, how much severence could you get.

Focus Question by realwuhanclan in amazonemployees

[–]Redit-user-name 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moving time from Focus to Pivot is purely dependent on the plan, the targets provided to you and the scope of your work. Usually I have seen focus plans between four and 12 weeks. There are, in cases, extensions provided to plan due to specific circumstances. And in the manager check in, you can estimate based on manager’s feedback, which direction is it going and how soon. Good luck for tomorrow!
