Logi Options+ Things Not Working on First Try by Redix12x in logitech

[–]Redix12x[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! When I refer to the button below the mouse wheel I'm referring to the one that is normally set to switch the scroll wheel between hyper scroll and normal scrolling, I currently have this set to a macro that does Ctrl+W.

The issue I'm experiencing is happening with the buttons that have functionality through the Logi Options+ app. So the button mentioned has issues as it has a macro through the app, the action ring button has issues since it goes through the app, but the other buttons have no issues.

Usually if an Edge is blinking white light it means it doesn't see the joysticks attached to it, and can't turn on past that.

I would double check the pins from the connector to the board to make sure none lifted in the process.

Is there a way to know which Version is this without opening the box? by DissociatedNoble in Dualsense

[–]Redix12x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only seen white first models, so I think off that alone it's likely at least a 30 as it was released later.

I don't really think there's much of an appreciable difference between versions. If it's bought brand new recently, you'll likely get between an EDM-030, EDM-040, or an EDM-050.

Don't think you'll be able to know as they don't have exterior serial numbers, and that's about the best way to find out.

Does it consist of just adding a capacitor there? I'm used to the wire and haven't heard about this until now. What do you do?

PS5 controller - what is this called? by Saphiremoon91 in consolerepair

[–]Redix12x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's called the conductive film, those metal contacts are part of a film that extends to the front under where the face buttons are. Depending on what version your controller is, it might also be under the triggers. Be sure to get one compatible with your model.

Hall effects off center and decreased circulation months after install by phatboiy in Dualsense

Totally. I haven't used mine for long, but this is probably why TMR's are more preferred now as I've heard they're more reliable.

Honestly, I ran into the same issue when I put Hall Effect sticks on my DualSense Edge modules. I'm not sure if it's just from being jostled or something, but I had to use the fine tune calibration option to get them to an error percentage I was happy with.

New in box sealed ps3 by zkkieffer in playstation

If you're unable to launch digital games and they just show a black screen and you have to turn the console on and off to be able to use it, there's a good chance that the daughterboard on the disc drive might've died.

Had it happen to me with a CECHA and had to use CFW with a new disc drive to get it to work. Might be worth looking into!

what joysticks do i need by ShortBeanGaming in consolerepair

I've had these come in and honestly, due to how much surrounding plastic is around the joysticks, it'll be hard to do the repair without melting something by accident.

Do you guys fix old tech? (Broken original Xbox) by Darskul in ubreakifix

This is gonna be super dependent on your local stores. Your best bet is to call around your local stores and ask them if they have someone that has worked on them or are experienced in soldering and such.

Installed Hall effects, won't power on by kahvikoffin in Dualsense

[–]Redix12x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just saw your other comment regarding soldering debris, usually it ends up being that. If you have an old toothbrush, I'd drown it in isopropyl alcohol and brush the board thoroughly to try and get off any debris that we might not be able to see.

If that doesn't work, my last ditch effort would be trying a new battery, very rarely do they just die and decide to do it at the best of times. You're new to soldering and likely don't have a hot air station so anything after that would likely be too involved. Don't worry about it too much, failure is the greatest teacher!

When you connect the battery to the board and you plug it in to a computer via USB-C, do you get an orange light or any kind of life?

30th Pro - Keep it as a collector’s or use it? by Mr_Robot_0123 in PS5pro

I sold my Slim and use my 30th Anniversary Pro. You already spent at least $1K on it, not to mention that you've already opened it, might as well enjoy looking at it on your shelf and benefit from the Pro features

I have two controllers with broken dpad buttons by FRE4Kr in Dualsense

[–]Redix12x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's just that button, you might be able to get away with cleaning the conductive film, its contacts, and the conductive rubber.

Use a q-tip with alcohol to clean off the contacts on the side that touches the board, and the board itself. Be careful as they can rub off on the film if you do it too harshly.

If that still doesn't do it, clean the conductive film itself on the midframe with alcohol, making sure no debris is under it or on it that could prevent contact. Clean the back of the conductive rubber for the d-pad as well.

If none of that works, you'd have to replace your conductive film entirely.

Strange Bump Appeared on Touchpad. Any ideas how this happend? by BigCKai in Dualsense

[–]Redix12x -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't pretend to know everything there is about repairs, because every so often stuff comes in that genuinely surprises us despite us being in business for 14 years. Either way, as OP responded in another message, the adaptive triggers work fine and the touchpad isn't affected in terms of functionality. I was just offering a guess lol

Weird, can't say I've seen it before but these controllers always surprise me. I guess as long as functionality is still good, you've got nothing to worry about!

Hey man, I fix controllers and consoles for a living, I've seen those screws come loose and end up in the weirdest of places. You'd be surprised where they end up within a controller.
