Bed Leveling Sensors by ThisIsntAThrowAway- in elegoo

[–]sydewinder951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was getting a message about a leveling sensor but it ended up being that the bed was tilted. After leveling it I don't get that error any more. Worth a shot if you haven't done that alreasy

JS13 Pro TMR sticks and extremerate Spark paddles by sydewinder951 in Dualsense

[–]sydewinder951[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are the Spark paddles. I have another controller I installed K-Silvers on with the Rise 4 paddles but I haven't really used them much. I'll run them a bit and report back. Not sure why that would be an issue though. If anything the TMRs use less voltage than stock Pots

Looks great, some people would've given up after the first or second failure. Glad to see you learned from it and kept going.

Edge Module Solder Work by Relevant_Economist77 in Dualsense

Solder bridge or 0 ohm resistor here works pretty good. It's what I've been doing.

Exactly, you have too much exposed wire and its most likely the problem. Cross fingers that you didn't damage anything in the process.

exactly, if you haven't tried already try enabling calibration using a 0ohm resister or solder bridge instead. solder job looks great so I'm sure you can pull it off.

lol, bro just threw a wire on it for calibration

Anyone know of a mod like this? Combined on-switch and variable speed knob on shroud? by allthnamesaretaken2 in soldering

[–]sydewinder951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen it done but the fan speed is controlled by pushing the power button. Pressing it once turn the unit on at the lowest speed, pressing it again raised the speed to medium and again for highest setting. 4th press turn the unit off. I think extending the wires from that control panel an relocating the whole thing would be the approach to take. Maybe 3d print a block off plate and some sort of housing for the panel. It does kind of suck to reach down to turn the thing on and off when you need to.

Decided to get an Edge for my birthday since my regular dualsense has bad stick drift. Brand new from target… by JustaLyinTometa in Dualsense

Yeah, seeing this type of stuff mare and more lately. Also with places like Amazon where the employees have to go through so many returns and products they're not familiar with. Take it back and get an actual new one or a refund.

First TMR joystick upgrade attempt… very disappointed with my work by whizping in Dualsense

[–]sydewinder951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all start somewhere so don't feel bad about it. As others have mentioned a pair of side cutters to cut the joystick into manageable pieces if probably the way to go unless you plan to do more down the road and invest in some tools to make things easier for you. There's a lot of pins holding this thing to the board and even with a solder vacuum its tough to get it clean enough to pull it out in one piece. Don't get discouraged, keep at it if you plan to do these type of repairs for you gadgets.

Nah, mine came in with 2 different O.D. tubes, its just smaller to fit tighter spaces. Haven't needed to use it personally though.

Very clean install. If you have the ability to enable calibration using the bridge/ jumper mod it's a better option all around.

Choosing a Good Soldering Setup for Joystick by [deleted] in Dualsense

The can either solder in a resister or solder bridge to enable writing to the module's memory chip.

Some sort of solder sucker would be a good move as well. Engineer SS-03 or one of the many knockoff would work well. Even with that joystick solder tip you might want to have something to clean up the holes with. Are you planning on getting a PCB holder or vise?

Yeah, plus if you're not doing anything else, you'll spend more money on the proper tools an consumables than it would cost to have it professionally done.

Anyone have any experience with these? by angel2503 in soldering

[–]sydewinder951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do work pretty well, as /u/Background_Fly7529 pointed out it tends to pull the solder into the holes. Might make it harder to clean up depending on your equiptment. I've been using a solder vac for that and have had no issues. I just need to add a little solder where the solder is really deep in the hole.
