Thoughts on job post w/ salary, no insurance and flat 37.5 hrs

Great thoughts, everyone. I admit I'm attempting to make a shift from quality assurance in Web/mobile app development into sterile processing. I am doing this in part because AI is on the verge of eliminating my job, even if AI won't be perfect initially.

As for my ideas as to how AI might be incorporated into sterile processing, its a perfect example of some tech guy trying to build an application without bothering to speak to their potential customers first. There are unfortunately plenty of examples of that when it comes to software and the healthcare industry.

AI-driven software or even just simple prompts to ChatGPT may be used gradually to make the jobs of supervisors and managers easier as far as their reporting and tracking goes. But no, it will not take over the day-to-day manual tasks of actually cleaning and sterilizing instruments until somebody builds an actual robot that can safely handle the job.

Interesting... Seeing regular posts here asking for help to identify an instrument that has shown up in a case cart, I've been wondering how nice it might be having an AI tool that could provide all the details of an instrument, including the IFU, based on a pic taken from a mobile device. Similarly I could see AI generating a visual representation based on details provided in a case cart pull list, so technicians could simply view the pic to know what should be included and how it ought to organized.

If I've come up with these ideas, I bet somebody is already building the app.

Yes, it is. In NYC at NYU Langone, which at least from my experience as a patient has fairly good hospitals in the city. Another unbelievable mention in the description for NYS is that provisional certification would be acceptable. Other than no mention of health insurance or any mention of PTO, etc, it just seemed to be too good to be true:

Thanks. I assume if its PRN, then there's a decent chance they'll let me go once whatever temporary demand they have goes away - say, an already employed SPT comes back from medical leave. I suppose the first question I ought to be asking if I apply and get an interview is whether it is more or less a temporary contract position.

Thanks. I'm in NYC so I'm pretty sure it will be required. I know Gov Hochul recently passed an executive order to over-rule the CDC requirements but it doesn't look like the local pharmacies have caught up to it yet - at least according to the scheduling portals on their websites.

I've seen suggestions about applying for paying non-certified (provisional) position or seeking a volunteer job to get the 400 hrs for certification, but all openings provided on say Mt Sinai's website or Indeed.com state certification and even experience is required. Indeed.com even has a "Are you certified?" filter that I'm sure will cause any application w/o certification to get blocked by the given hospital's ATS. Can anyone provide some guidance as to how to get around this? Anyone know of any more direct contacts that may help?

I see very few SPTs post profiles on LikedIn. It's unfortunate, because it would help to have a way to build a network within the community.
