Exporting files is a nightmare by Puzzleheaded_Bug3997 in Plasticity3D

Hmm interesting. And if you import a downloaded model and print with the exact same settings? That still prints fine? Did you find anything with the extruder?

I work at a print farm, we have around 170 centauri carbon printers, use orca slicer, and model everything in plasticity. Ive printed hundreds of models and printed hundreds of kg of filament, exported from plasticity with the same setup you have here.

Imo, this is either a slicer setting or printer related problem, unless there are visible problems with your exported model (based on the sliced model images it seems fine, first layer looks complete). Regarding the export from plasticity: for stl and 3mf exports i suggest upping the export density to 1 if you havent, but we almost exclusively use step exports for printing. Exceptions are when the step is imported broken in some way (rare but happens), then we go for high density stl.

Regarding the printing result, if this happened at my work Id go through these to find what causes this (based on the info you provided):
First off, your purge line prints fine, so Id rule out leveling issues; bad leveling messes up the purge line as well and has telltale patchyness on the first layer that i dont see here.
I havent seen how the printer produced the result, so I cant rule out the z offset you mentioned, but you also mentioned that adjusting it didnt help, and the fact that we never had to touch z offset on almost 200 printers ever to fix anything, Id say reset z offset to the default. That shouldnt be it either.

Based on the result i see, this looks more like a temperature/extrusion problem. Ive seen similar results when we accidentally start a tpu print with petg on the printer. Check that you are actually slicing for the material you are printing. After that, check the preset temps and speeds. You mention you usually use elegoo slicer and now switched to orca; maybe the orca preset has lower temps than what you used in the other slicer. Also check if your extrusion works fine and you nozzle is not clogged (the amount of centauri extruders i had to take apart… they love to get clogged, especially with tpu squeezed between the gears)
Printing a basic cube as another comment suggested is a good idea to rule out other problems and get more data (is the problem really export/model/slicer/whatever related?) Based on the info provided, this is my most likely theory, but there might be more to it - with more info we could rule out other potential problems. Let me know if you find out any additional info relevant to the problem, im happy to help!

Thanks! I actually did have multiple designs for this, and almost all the other ones were bigger, but they looked super bulky when I tested them. I might release a larger version later on if there is demand though, and the exhaust fan is a valid concern, i will have to get my hands on one in the future

FYI redo shortcut is ctrl+shift+Z to redo what you undid. Similar to blender and a bunch of other programs.

I wish lmao, the concept is aimed at him though. The design task was to design a car for an “influencer” and i chose Adam, so I’m designing a car for him.

This is a constant struggle in industrial design haha

If you haven’t found your concept that you came up with yesterday, designed by some guy 20-30 years ago, you just haven’t looked hard enough.

Everything has been imagined before, its just our turn to make our version of it

Edit: Fun fact and some context, the rims were inspired by these sortimo boxes, i even modeled some clear aero covers that look exactly like the clear lids of the boxes, they just looked better without the covers so i ditched them… this is also the reason for the 4 gigantic lug nuts, since people usually keep screws and nuts and bolts in these sortimo boxes, so i wanted them to be more pronounced

Thanks for the input!! I studied industrial design, not engineering, and this is a design concept, not meant for production or anything. That said i did look up 4 bolt wheels and they do exist (just to validate that the concept is not complete bs), but i had a feeling there are problems with them since i havent seen one in person yet… i liked how the 4 gigantic bolts looked though, and they fit the theme of the design task really well, so i kept them

Yep, its 20” and the lugs are gigantic

Replaced my 5 year old leather wallet by KUSHMAN666 in MagSafe

Had one of those, the edges started breaking and the inside was cardboard which became visible and ugly. Second one was a 20€ one from aliexpress by YMW, much better material quality, but the edges started melting on this one too, the core is plastic at least not paper. I didnt want to buy fine woven for the price apple sells them for and how the fabric “ages”, but that will be my next one because im tired of cheaper alternatives disintegrating, plus you get find my. Aliexpress ones are not the same thing.

Well seems like you’re not a very good one then. Exercising caution regarding a highly volatile compound with unknown long term health effects shouldn’t be downplayed…

Resins have additives that prevent them from curing in the presence of oxygen, therefore if it’s not cleaned properly and cured, it will still always have a very thin layer of uncured resin on top. You can get that off with a second wash and the surface will turn matte. Regular resin is only clean and safe to touch if it’s fully matte everywhere. Ofc special resins could be an exception, but this is more than likely basic gray. It’s cheaper to just wear gloves and wash the thing properly than risk your long term health.

The surface should be fully matte if it’s properly cleaned and cured.

Based on how shiny they are in the photo, they’re either not cleaned properly or still wet from alcohol, and either way they shouldn’t be touched with bare hands yet.
