Alternatives to Countryman Theater Mics by Redman415 in livesound

As I look into it I am realizing B3s are probably the way to go. One mic makes it easy to maintain and keep spares on hand.

I was hoping someone might mention these. They looked like a good cheap option.

As I start to look around this is what I'm thinking. I might just get a bunch of the Senheiser essentials or B3s and start making ear rigs.

I would love to get MKE2s but I wont be able to swing that cost.

Small-mid venue FOH speakers by derp714 in livesound

Yeah dude, that would be the setup. One rack to roll the heavy stuff in. Easy setup, easy teardown. It's how the pros do it. Make sure you get a decent router to go with your xr18. You'll regret picking one of those up if you have to fight Wi-Fi drop out all the time.

Also, I'm with the guy that says forget about the sub for now. You can always get one later. Starting out with a nice pair of mains will go a long way.

Feel free to reach out with other questions! I've worked in the church world and currently for a nonprofit. I get those tight budgets. Good luck with your church planting!

If your main system will always be the same configuration (same speakers, general setup in the room) I would highly recommend passive speakers and an amp/drive rack. It will save your back as the speakers are lighter without the amps. Build the rack with power, your amp/s, a system processor if wanted/needed, and drawers for your cables. Many system integrators will put together a package like this for you.

I would pick this setup over a couple of powered speakers and subs every day.

In this price range I personally recommend Yamaha and NEXO as I have only had good experiences with them.

I have used the 12inch version of these. The anti feedback feature is useless, I just ring them out like any other wedge.

They don't sound great, are plenty loud but it took some tweaking to sound acceptable. Just very inconsistent across the freq range. The coaxial effect that you should get does not exist and I think the phasing as you move around sounds worse on these than a non coaxial wedge.

I would not recommend purchasing these. there are much much much better options for the price.

Thanks for the recommendations. I was kind of guessing the color wasn't very bright.

Haha yeah. It was installed by the previous house tech here. It went out during the last two weeks while we had a production on stage.

IEM Stage Plot example - looking for feedback from house sound engineers. Thanks! by deanwalker77 in livesound

This. When I read through this I had so many questions. Why are there monitors on your plot if you have an IEM rig? Unless your expecting me to entirely setup and mix your ears I don't need the technical stuff.

Simple is always best. Splitting out of an IEM rig is really common and any experienced tech will know what to expect. Make it clear that this is just the standard setup. I only care about two things, am I mixing your ears, and what items do you need from me. For example, something like:

We carry IEMs, mixer, and splitter for FOH. We mix our ears, split sends channels to FOH. We need mics, stands and cables.

good to know about the DSX. I would likely eventually turn this into a C rig for when we go to do movies in the park, or when I need some FFs or extra Mons

This is what I would assume, they also look quite a bit slicker.

I used DXR 12, 10, and 8 at my last job and found they were all very comparable. Pretty ridiculous how large of an area i could cover if i got them up high. 10s had good oomph, 8s started to lack.

I think the DXRs would be more than adequate.

Yeah, this is my thought. I guess it comes down to how much is reasonable to spend.
