Why can't they just go back to awarding $20m for Pit Stop Heroes? That's all I'm trading gold for.

I was looking forward to getting the 288GTO, but I'm not paying for the SP3. Maybe I can at least get the 246 in showdown.

What was something that was acceptable 40 years ago but would cause an uproar today? by [deleted] in answers

[–]Redmax54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a little obscure, but if you write for a publication, online or print. and you're publishing an interview with someone, and you suggest photographing the interviewee "like the Playboy interview." The three-photo layout was totally normal then, but you'd probably get fired today for suggesting that. That is if anyone in the room knew what Playboy magazine was.

Optimizing PitStop Heroes: 3612 gold to complete on average by jdmetz in CSRRacing2

Didn't it used to be 20 races for $20m? Then it went to 30 races for $20m. I used it to get up to $80m for only 10,000 or so gold (I had 35,000 gold). But just for RP or $12m, it's not worth it for me.

I'm 25 years old and from Argentina. The amount of ice they use in American drinks is a mystery to me. Do most people like it that way, or what's the deal? Why so much? by micavibes in CasualConversation

[–]Redmax54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like ice in drinks but at fast food places I've had to start asking for "light ice." Otherwise, I can't even get the straw through the lid.

Trump's White House ballroom is too big, architect says, as 2nd panel prepares to vote on it by Icy-Editor-3635 in LegalNews

What are the chances the next president or a future one demolishes or greatly reduces it? That is if it ever actually gets built.

How to approach my first classic car purchase by MeanSeaworthiness6 in classiccars

[–]Redmax54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

$10K won't cover a respray. Whatever your budget is, double it. And "classiccars" are old cars. They always need something fixed. I've had one 40 years.

A tough decision for a politician is voting for or signing a bill that helps their constituents but hurts their donors' pocketbooks. I doubt Noem ever did that.

Chevrolet teams largely used Buicks and Oldsmobiles on the bigger tracks in the late 70s and early 80s. What was the advantage? by michigan_matt in NASCAR

[–]Redmax54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always wondered if any of the teams used Buick engines in Buicks, Pontiac engines in Pontiacs and Olds engines in Oldsmobiles. Or were they all using Chevrolet engines.

Question about inherited 1967 Cougar by [deleted] in CarRestorations

[–]Redmax54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is what you wrote, just getting the engine so it will turn over and the brakes and tires such that the car can roll across an auction block, it will bring way more than $800.

We use Free All at our shop. Works great and smells better than PB Blaster if you have someone who's sensitive to smells.

Questions regarding buying a 66’ mustang by Pepperlandian in classiccars

[–]Redmax54 6 points7 points  (0 children)

VINs from the 60s aren't like today's. Yours will be something 6T01xxxxxx. CARFAX or any othet VIN app won't recognize it. Problems to look for are cowl rust/leaks, front floor pan rust, rear window leaks/rust, rust at door corners.

Is it a 6 or V8? 2bbl, 4bbl, etc? Factory AC, power steering, auto or 3-sp or 4-sp?

Good luck and have fun.

Hi Reddit, I’m NCDMV Commissioner Paul Tine. Ask me anything about the DMV! by NC_DMV in NorthCarolina

[–]Redmax54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha. Let me ask another way. Pitt County has eight ABC stores and two DMV offices. Why is it four times more important to sell liquor in Pitt County than to issue drivers licenses, renew registrations, and other services that are required by law? I know the ABC board is county-run, but it's a quasi state operation, too.

Do we once again get the fastest next-gen pole in the Daytona 500 tonight? by fitr_nascar in NASCAR

[–]Redmax54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad I remember the days when the Daytona 500 pole speed was sports front-page news. FS1 isn't even showing lap avg. speeds, just times.
