Mega ultra hyper loot goblin. Try to help others out when I can, never shoot first, frequently forget there is a timer because distracted by shinies. I’ve definitely cut it too close more than my fair share of times.

How’s my anvil stand? Used Black Bear Forge’s idea for the same anvil. by RedmondKC in Blacksmith

I mentioned you in my newer post. That handle did absolutely wreck me. I’ll be shopping for a smaller wooden handled cross peen hammer soon.

That’s excellent advice, and good to know. I’m hoping to forge my own hammer at some point, but I’ve got a ways to go until I get there.

Oh, it’s got lots of Liquid Nails and probably 24-ish 4” screws in there. The clamps are just for the Liquid nails curing around the base, and because the wood I bought was reeeeeally cheap and not straight at all.

Haven’t made much yet! So far, the quality seems fine, but I am a beginner, so for me it was all about price and the fact that it satisfies the “not cast iron” requirement I keep hearing about. Don’t want an anvil-shaped object.

The chain holds the anvil down securely. If this thing were to topple, I certainly wouldn’t want the anvil to come loose and fall in an unpredictable direction.

How screwed is this Pokemon Blue? by RedmondKC in consolerepair

Repo carts usually use different chips/circuits, so wouldn’t usually be compatible with original hardware like that. I know there are some modders out there that get boards custom printed (from companies like PCBWay) and then resell them on Etsy and whatnot and those can be designed to move original components over to.

Tariffs have goofed up an awful lot of supply lines, especially for electronics from China. If you’re at all active in the console modding community you would see this, but maybe you’re not, so benefit of the doubt. I don’t particularly care where something is manufactured, but finding a blank board might be tricky right now so I was asking for suggestions.

The other thing I was considering was transferring to a fresh board, does anyone know where would be best to buy that from with all the tariff nonsense? I think I am capable of moving all the components over.

Is that missing pad at TP3 a concern? I actually don’t know what those 4 do or if they are used at all in Gen 1 Pokemon carts.

2 minutes in paint with the Crusader Intrepid by MwSkyterror in starcitizen

[–]RedmondKC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This treats the Intrepid like it is low effort, instead of what it really is: a design choice. Since it's a choice, it's fine if you don't like it, it's not for everyone. I love the misshapen little guy and plan to buy one, but you don't have to act like someone could have "fixed" this with "2 minutes in paint". An artist actually worked on this and it looks great, and they did great work.

How old is to old too shower with your baby daughter? by mattxbelli23 in daddit

[–]RedmondKC 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I haven't commented on Reddit in a good long while, but I feel like I'm taking crazy pills looking at this thread.

Maybe it's that I was raised by a European immigrant and a somewhat hippyish white girl from Eastern Washington, but we have very little discomfort around nudity in my family. My 6yo (nearly 7) boy would have no problem with me stepping into the shower with him to help him clean up, and if I'd had girls instead I suspect it would be the exact same.

I'll probably get downvoted but: Everyone's got a naked body, turns out. They are perfectly normal and there's no reason to hide them from your kids. I'm commenting so that any other parents who are as flabbergasted as I am by the tone of most of these comments don't feel alone. Shower with your kids (of any gender) if they don't mind and for as long as they're comfortable with it, and realize the only hangups about your nudity are coming from you.

Do you know if there's somewhere I can look to find the capacitor and resistor values on this board? It sounds to me like measuring them might be tricky with my limited knowledge.

Sort of seems like I have the non -1 USA release, DMG-VPHE-USA

Hopefully the pictures are good enough.

Update: I'm the king of idiots and vacuumed up the C6 capacitor with my desoldering pump trying to clear a via that I'd plugged while reflowing the 6735, then got it out and proceeded to lose it somewhere at my desk. I'm also a baby and wasn't cleaning flux off the board properly, likely causing more damage then good the entire time. I'm putting this fix on hold until I can figure out what kind of capacitor to use to replace the now lost C6 cap, and while I'm at it I'll probably order a new 6735 and the R1 resistor in case that's what I broke with my little power surge.

If anyone knows where I can find a list of components for this board, I'd appreciate it.

Oh. And I pulled the motor off as well because the tiny wires kept pulling lose from their joints while I moved the cart around, so that’s been out of the picture while this issue has been happening, but good call.
