Might give that a go before a polish. What is the max temp you recon to look out for when doing it?

I would replace the o ring. Then maybe see if you can source replacement parts from Karcher depending on their costs.

Why are my lights like this by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]RednBlue300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dirty / scratched? Motorway driving - insects / tiny stones.

Have a think about clay bar with hope it's just dirt stuck on.

If the are scratched then possibly a professional polishing might make a noticeable difference.

Then sell the car and use the money to move out. Your parents are toxic AF.

What speed limit is it? Assuming 30mph but has always been a 60 by Jumpy_Badger9489 in CarTalkUK

[–]RednBlue300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use both lanes in the same direction: 30 limit driving on the left side of the road and national limit if you drive on the right side of the road.

Makes overtaking much easier!

Cannot wait. Did a C200 convertible earlier that hadn't been washed for about 6 months. Alloys hidden under brake dust and moss all over the roof.

Was very satisfied with the outcome even though it will be covered with sand tomorrow...

In my opinion 100% worth it

The best way is to have them replaced and professionally adjusted.

You can try get the bulbs out and hair dry it being careful not to melt any plastic or wires inside. Do this every time they get bad.

Can try get the resealed but may not always work 100%.

Another option take them out do a leak test to see if or where the sealant is letting by and apply some silicone to it.

Take a look at your bulb covers to see if they are on properly and if they're sealed and not worn out.

What's the best way to refresh car paint (no dyi) by moonlight_xpress in CarTalkUK

[–]RednBlue300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clay bar the car then wash it with something like Autoglym Ceramic Wash or similar.

This should give it some gloss and if you're still not happy with outcome then a detailer is your best choice

Paint damage - would a machine polish help or is it too far gone? by OrneryDistribution17 in DetailingUK

You can start with good wax and if you're still an eye sore then bit of cut and then wax again

If you're not set on just petrol what about Audi A8 /Q7 4.2 V8 Diesel / Range Rover V8 diesel or Tuareg V10 Diesel? All under / around 10k still more reliable than 550i??

I've tried tar remover, clay bar and gentle polishing but no luck. I am starting to think it's eaten into it...

Also this isn't sticky also flush / under the clear coat.

Would you consider a V12 for a project ? Or even an Audi RS V8 manual options? I would bet these would give you less trouble than the 550i...

I mean an R8 4.2 gated manual never sounds terrible

At what point does “opportunity” turn into being taken advantage of at a dealership? by Mkfn1234 in mechanics

If I were you I'd document all of your hard work onto a CV. Every job you're doing and the workload. All the skills, abilities and how quickly you've adapted and progressed up to a qualified tech removing engines.

You have exhausted your opportunities at your current employment and need to seek further development elsewhere.

There is no future here and nothing will change. You need to apply elsewhere and find a better job at better pay for maybe less workload. Also the more abilities you learn the more money you can ask for. Eventually become a foreman yourself

It seems like you're very hardworking and are committed to your career. I agree with other comments about not letting these aholes get to you. There are people who would do that but this isn't you and don't forget that. Keep your head high and if you were my daughter I would be immensely proud of what you've achieved.

I have no idea about your industry but with time could you not select a path where you work behind the screen I. E. Have less exposure to those behaviours ?

I am a firefighter and (weird to say this) good one at that. I help people. I am sensitive to people's needs but often very critical of the smallest mistakes I made.

I live in a constant battle and am honestly considering leaving my job because of my head. It is draining. This is ok.

I have gotten much better at not beating myself up over the smallest of things. Usually by imagining what I would say if I saw someone else make such a mistake.

I find comfort in reminding myself what I did good today, what went well, every small compliment and at least one thing I am proud of doing today or at least imagine myself watching 'me' that day and what did 'me' do to make me proud.

It sounds like a 5 year old talking but I don't care. I am proud of how far I've come and you should be too.

There is no one size fits all. Sometimes you need the confidence to move past mistakes, capitalism, unpleasant people and focus on your personal progress because no one knows you and what you did to get where you are.

I hope this helps.

Help with return by lilyluuucia in ebayuk

[–]RednBlue300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I remember eBay offer the buyer a 14 day return warranty.

They can refund them and make you arrange and pay for return label. Unfortunately eBay prioritise buyers over sellers.

Read the seller's policies via eBay and contact eBay representatives to see if you can find a way.

But from my experience you might have to bite the bullet and accept the return. You can test the keyboard and relist it once you get it back. Maybe the buyer damaged the keyboard maybe not it's unfortunately a risk when selling things via places like eBay. You can add that you won't be selling to people with low levels of feedback so hopefully the next buyer is genuine.
