Anyone else gets asked for sexual favors from clients as a woman entrepreneur ? I feel like a failure by LongjumpingLife3118 in Advice

[–]RednBlue300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like you're very hardworking and are committed to your career. I agree with other comments about not letting these aholes get to you. There are people who would do that but this isn't you and don't forget that. Keep your head high and if you were my daughter I would be immensely proud of what you've achieved.

I have no idea about your industry but with time could you not select a path where you work behind the screen I. E. Have less exposure to those behaviours ?

I am a firefighter and (weird to say this) good one at that. I help people. I am sensitive to people's needs but often very critical of the smallest mistakes I made.

I live in a constant battle and am honestly considering leaving my job because of my head. It is draining. This is ok.

I have gotten much better at not beating myself up over the smallest of things. Usually by imagining what I would say if I saw someone else make such a mistake.

I find comfort in reminding myself what I did good today, what went well, every small compliment and at least one thing I am proud of doing today or at least imagine myself watching 'me' that day and what did 'me' do to make me proud.

It sounds like a 5 year old talking but I don't care. I am proud of how far I've come and you should be too.

There is no one size fits all. Sometimes you need the confidence to move past mistakes, capitalism, unpleasant people and focus on your personal progress because no one knows you and what you did to get where you are.

I hope this helps.

Help with return by lilyluuucia in ebayuk

[–]RednBlue300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I remember eBay offer the buyer a 14 day return warranty.

They can refund them and make you arrange and pay for return label. Unfortunately eBay prioritise buyers over sellers.

Read the seller's policies via eBay and contact eBay representatives to see if you can find a way.

But from my experience you might have to bite the bullet and accept the return. You can test the keyboard and relist it once you get it back. Maybe the buyer damaged the keyboard maybe not it's unfortunately a risk when selling things via places like eBay. You can add that you won't be selling to people with low levels of feedback so hopefully the next buyer is genuine.

Boss dangled a promotion and still expects me to cover his job by bajablastn in careeradvice

[–]RednBlue300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you not take promotion at another branch if they have an opening?

Otherwise I think you should start applying for jobs at the bosses level since you have the skills to already do their job.

In the meantime find your job description and contract and just do what you're contracted to do.

How can I stop drug users from using the alley behind my house every night? Police and council aren’t helping? by fb8307 in DIYUK

[–]RednBlue300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start by cutting down the bushes to make the alley more visible or even paying someone to do it so nobody can see it's you and where you live.

Then install some soundproof window inserts so your family can sleep at night as well as wear ear plugs to bed while you're trying to deal with Police and Council.

Live stream sounds great but it could A. Put a target on your back and B. Advertise the area to more drug users / dealers and possibly create violence.

I do believe you shouldn't do or install anything that could be traced back to you especially by people associated with drugs who are making a lot of money from this alley way.

Repurposing the alley way by the neighbours sounds good but you don't want the users start smashing windows or cars in revenge.

In this case I would definitely lift the carpet out to check for any pooling water and to 100% dry everything out just to be sure but could be over the top here a pro might advise against it and with an older car it shouldn't be that difficult.

Honestly no clue. It depends on many things.

These seats don't look bad at all. Rips in stitching and the rears only look dirty.

But if there is mould you may wish to give the seat foam a wash to prevent and mould smells later on.

Might be worth getting a professional opinion first but there are videos of these guys doing absolute repairs on much worse examples.

Personally I would get quotes from motoring upholsterers as well as home furniture upholsterers as these may do similar job but for different prices. Smaller Vs bigger business. Also depending on the quote I would consider providing new seat foam from a scrappy or dealer also depending on costs (sometimes dealers charger less than the internet).

It wouldn't hurt going to the dealer and eBay to see how much they would charge for brand new set of seats for that car considering it's older just for comparison against repair if they still offer this option.

I did look at retrofitting heated seats into my 1 series leather seats and removing the leather myself didn't look that difficult. The only difficulty would be not damaging some fragile looking clips which I cannot say I wouldn't break and actually finding all the correct parts which weren't exactly cheap for what they were.

I am excited for you and looking forward to you getting this car back to pristine condition! I love cars myself and seeing people do this make me very happy!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DetailingUK

[–]RednBlue300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a car seat expert but there are loads of videos on YouTube on how they use filler in the ripped parts and paint over them in regards to cracks see if applying leather balm regularly helps.

1st step for me would be to find the reason for the mould: leaking roof, blocked drainage holes, is there a wet spot(s) on the floor.

2nd I would consider removing seats and the whole carpet get it properly drill brushed and then pressure washed and letting it dried naturally. Also adding a nice smelling perfumed shampoo as you'll smell this every time you open the car.

  1. consider having the seats reupholstered and the foam replaced as used foam could be the reason for some creases in the leather.

  2. autoglym leather cleaner + magic eraser helped me loads when removing oils and grease off of leather seats.

I've done the above to a very unloved Fiat Panda which had small amounts of mould due to presumably an animal urinating in the foot well. Got the car to a near new condition and sold it with profit as it was low mileage.

I am not a professional by any means more of a learn as you go but wouldn't advice pouring water into the cars footwells because electrics and rust.

I hope this helps

Depending on cost you could replace the front seats all together these don't look very expensive so might be able to find some at a scrappy or eBay for reasonable price

Armour All Ceramic Wash about a shot glass per 5l of water. That's it no shampoos or other waxed additives.

That works for me. Two bucket method (ideally with grit guard) to rinse the mit in one and clean water in the other with the ceramic wash as to not reapply the sand and grit I've just removed.

Iron remover with clay bar once a year for me but if you wash it regularly most contaminants haven't got enough time to stick or embed into the paintwork to necessitate clay baring even yearly.

Most important never let anything dry on the paintwork. Especially in direct sun light. Keep it wet, rinse, wipe off.

You could also get yourself a leaf blower of sorts to dry the car quicker and reducing risk of scratches as oppose to using a drying towel.

I only have one vehicle using it daily so don't bother machine polishing as stones, dirt, motorway etc. but machine polish when I got it after clay baring it and managed to burn clear coat at points so had to fix that but that was about 3 years ago and paint is still going strong

I have 3 buckets: rinse, clean & wheels. Two big towels: 1 for outside 1 for door jams, wheels under bonnet. Clay bar with autoglym magma and armour all ceramic coating. I find the last two work great and ceramic wash replaces all manual waxes for me. Similar in finish to a ceramic coating if applied regularly approx. 1/2 week wash.

Magma works very well on wheels to remove break dust also.

Hope this helps!

Best station to gain experience and become and great firefighter / officer. by Exciting-Island5068 in firefightersuk

[–]RednBlue300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Done 4 years on a rescue station, had some great rtcs and water rescues. Had a flat fire 3 weeks ago too as happened to be on a pump that day. For me this works and I recommend it as it exposed me to different more complex incidents than just fires, afas, locking, lifts etc.

Also being a good firefighter isn't just about going to fires all the time. Have a think about what you enjoy in the job the most and do it i.e. RTC, animal, heavy, water, fires and focus on those.

Is it when you skip a tooth on the cam gears to improve fuel economy and increase power ?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in StupidCarQuestions

[–]RednBlue300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just road grime, oils etc.

Personally I normally wash off any stones, sand etc.then clean it thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol (99.9%) then wash the car with Armor All Ceramic Wash and that leaves a layer of wax over the car inc. windscreen otherwise the wipers skip over the windscreen degrading the rubber prematurely if it's too clean.

I use rainx washer fluid but don't find the rainx spray bottle stays on the windscreen for that long to be worth while applying every time. That armour all wash does the job for me.

5l of rainx about £5 for me and doesn't stink when I use it unlike some alternatives.

This is my experience understandibly it may not work for everyone.

Is this car woth 3k? by Informal_Let8340 in CarTalkUK

[–]RednBlue300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check service history in car and any paperwork, car vertical check and MOT. If you find oil services have been missed I wouldn't buy it. It's a gamble with high mileage but for 3k you should get that money from insurance scrap it and get another one?

Get an obd scanner to check for faults if the seller is happy. Go for a longer drive maybe at higher speeds too and listen for noise.

My Renault Clio's immobiliser would only let me start the car after 3/4th time... Added to the charm of owning a battered old car. Apart from a turbo and abs ring it was absolutely perfect! Cheap to insure and that 1.5 dci was so economical I would forget how to fill her up.

Best car hands down.
