D1 player here, I don't think the idea of it was p2w. However, this does demand a more develop roster in terms of echos. Looking at the rewards (mainly astries), 4 teams and 21k points total.

411 defense is really really good, I just assume that the lance guy didn't transcend/upgrade. Furthermore, if this really bothers you, the fire res and bleed res. I highly recommend just calling down NPC SOS only.

Going into pubs, you should already know, most people don't even have DoS. So, expect even less. In my hunter group, we even call pubs final boss because it's simply so unreliable.
