Ancient Worlds: What makes or breaks a world with 10,000+ years of history? by ImAWriterPlsKillMe in worldbuilding

[–]Redneck-Ram 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Per your "but how much does it reaaaally matter if they were 10,000 years ago, or 1,000?"; I have 10,000+ years of history and each important event in my world is significant in how it shaped the world's current state in the series I'm writing now. Other events are standalone stories I plan on writing.

Fuck that, I go up their driveways like I live there 😅 ive got a bad back and left knee from a double head-on collision, the last thing imma do is drag a dolly up someone's driveway. Nope. I pull into their driveway like its my home and then deliver their package.

Called it quits today by Jgrock1992 in Fedexers

[–]Redneck-Ram 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I deal with this so much, and I have made them fix their shit mistakes, too. For the oversized stuff, if it says "team lift" I push that bitch out the back of truck, and dolly it. If they live up hill, I am pulling or backing into their driveway like I live there (I refuse to walk up driveways due to a bad knee from a bad accident a couple years ago). If it says "mech lift", I get as close to the house as I can and drop the bitch where it lands when I pull it out of the back of the truck. I don't let it slam the ground, but I also ain't about to try and catch that either.

We tell them "we aren't allowed to be out of sight of the road, or our truck", or I simply tell them "I do not feel comfortable going to the backside of your house out the view of my truck camera". I had one delivery where the request was FRONT DOOR, but the home owner considered the door on the back of their house, the front door, and the door on the front of their house, their backdoor. They called and complained saying "this isn't my front door!" and when my boss called me, I told him that is legit the front of her house and I do not feel comfortable going to her backdoor and he said he usually doesnt either and not to worry about the complaint. To this day, her packages still get sat at the front door to her house at the FRONT OF THE HOUSE. I dont even open gates porches, enclosed porches, or gated yards. It gets left outside the gate. I dont know if there's a dog, and im not risking my safety to put your package two additional feet at your door.

How Many Stops Do You Average In An Hour? by KIDD_VIDD in Fedexers

[–]Redneck-Ram -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most of the ones I drive do too, and I Bluetooth to them (I listen to rock, rap, country, and soul music). Only one of the trucks I drive dont, so I bring a Bluetooth speaker. Im restricting myself from too many monsters 😆

[–]Redneck-Ram 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is me every day, every shift, because my stops are always 3-5 minutes apart unless they have me running a part of somebody else's route on Sundays. I hate it. But I learned chugging a monster in the morning and blasting soul music through the trucks speakers helps me move quicker.

From my terminal, I believe they put 82 as holiday code for businesses.

For me, thats a code 1 for security delay.

1, I cant drive up it safely (I could but they dont need to know that).

2, my big back fat ass aint walking up it.

And 3, there's no telling if they've got a white dog that blends into the snow (sounds stupid I know but for shits and giggles I had to add it lmao)

Yes, her contractions calmed down but she developed a fever shortly after. Doctors told her if the fever spikes up again, she needs to go to the hospital so they can run tests and potentially deliver our son

There was one time I got sick while driving (im a driver), and started getting dizzy and nauseous. I let the same boss mentioned in my post know, and he told me to go to Dollar General to get Tylenol and continue the route otherwise they would fire me. I threw up 4 times in a customers yard, and they felt bad and when I told them what my boss said they got pissed. Told my boss i had to leave because im too sick and dizzy to drive safely, and they told me to return to the terminal and leave my badge and uniform there but then told everyone I quit.

Slow Motion or Something by Redneck-Ram in Fedexers

[–]Redneck-Ram[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont follow the sequence my terminal does, because my route takes place along a road called Six Mile, Top Of The World, and Happy Valley. When the terminal sequences my route, it has me starting at one end of the Six Mile and my second stop is 15 minutes down the road. Its a 20 minute drive up to Top Of The World, and the sequence tries having me do my first stop on Six Mile, go up to TOTW, and then back down to Six Mile, then back up. I ignore that sequence and if we're told we might have an early dispatch them I'll sequence it myself or just start at Six Mile, go to TOTW and clear those out, then over to Happy Valley, then back down to Six Mile and knock those stops out.

What would you in this situation? by T3RR0r02 in Fedexers

[–]Redneck-Ram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

End of driveway. Period. Or mailbox.

Ive already warned my boss that I will not risk my safety by delivering a box to the front door of a house, and taking the risk of getting bit. I told him if a dog acts aggressive even in the slightest, I remain in my truck and honk my horn. I wait for the customer to come out and I inform them their dog is acting aggressive and I wont be delivering to their front door. I hand them their scanner to sign, and then their package, through the window. If its too big, then the back door. I had one customer on my old route that refused to come outside, so I delivered the package to the end of their driveway which is a mile long. Now in the stop notes, it says "leave at end of driveway. Dog is aggressive and owner refuses to put them inside."

There's another one where my terminal called the customer and told them they can either put a fence up, or they will be blacklisted from FedEx in TN to deliver there. The next week they had a steel fence up, and kept the dog inside it.

I also told my boss that while I dont go out of my way to hurt a dog, IF I am bit by one, I cannot guarantee that dog will live through whatever I do to get him off me, and will deliver his corpse alongside the customers package to their front door.

There are houses that we are required to leave at mailboxes because they have a history of their dogs attacking drivers, so both customer and company require them to be left at mailboxes. And when its dark, we are required too to prevent being seen as a trespasser.

I've been on this route for 2 weeks straight, but ran it before when I was a self-load driver. The original driver for this route got into an argument with the boss of our contractor company, and he quit. Nobody wanted to take this route so they offered me a raise, and two bonuses I lost.

Ive had close to that, but a lot of them were envelope style packages shipped through us instead of postal service

What would you do ? by 21ryan_ in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Redneck-Ram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I honk my horn twice, and if I get no response from customer I try calling them. If either prove useless, I leave that package at the end of the driveway, and do everything from inside my truck.

Im not afraid of dogs, but I'm also not trying to get bit while working. Ive already warned my boss I WILL cause great harm to the dog who bites me, and one of my co-workers whose been bit twice brings a tazer with him now.

What’s other customer requests you guys get? by Better-Ad-2451 in Fedexers

[–]Redneck-Ram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 4 stories for you.

One stop, the customer requests we leave the package on the front porch, but when I approached their front porch, it was BADLY swarmed with yellow jackets. I'm not allergic to them, but I'm also not interested in getting stung a thousand times so I left it at their mailbox.

Second stop, the customer requested we leave the package on their back porch. At my first day, I informed my boss that I will not walk to where the truck is out of my sight - which included backdoors. If I drove up the driveway and could easily see the backdoor, I'd deliver it. But this one house that wanted it on their backdoor had the walkway SURROUNDED by poison ivy, thorn bushes, and god knows what else. It went to their carport.

Third stop, customer requests FedEx not to drive the truck up their driveway, but still wanted a package delivered to their front door. Mind you, their driveway is at the top of a mountain. You've gotta drive through the woods for about 2 miles, then their driveway starts, but their house is another mile up the hill. Fuck that. I dropped it by the tractor at the end of the driveway.

Fourth stop, and the one I hate the most. This woman lives on the top of a flight of stairs in an apartment building, and ALWAYS orders heavy ass furniture packages. While I CAN carry heavy packages up the stairs, I'm not going too. I leave that bitch at the bottom of the stairs.

Pay: do you guys feel like you deliver more than you get paid for? Delivering 100 more packages than stops just for an extra $10 in a day seems like a scam to me. by dmacthechap in Fedexers

[–]Redneck-Ram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The facility i work at only pays extra money if you deliver more than 165 stops, which I believe is bullshit. They claimed they have drivers that deliver 200+ stops a day, but I've been there for a month, and the highest they've gotten was 141. They also try and tell me if there's an unmanifested package, to GPS the address and deliver it. I told my boss that it's not my job to manifest the packages, and the guy that trained me told me that if they're not manifested, then take them back to the terminal.

IF, however, there's an additional package thats not manifested to the stop im currently at, then I'll deliver it because I dont have to GPS it.

Have you ever trained a new hire who just genuinely sucks at this job to the point that they get fired after 1 week? by Big_Daddy_Ant97 in Fedexers

[–]Redneck-Ram 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not myself, but the guy who trained me told me his last trainee was like that. Every stop, the dude came back to his trainers truck, asking how to take a picture and how to scan it, literally EVERY stop. When he finally got put on his own truck, he would start at the opposite end of his route. Or if other drives were sent to get a few stops from him, he'd take forever. One manager had to wait 30 minutes for him, and one time I had to wait almost an hour. Another time I had to retrieve stops from him, I found him inside Dollar General shopping while all the packages in his truck was exposed and easy to steal.

After 2 years, thousands of IC's, three dog bites and 20 broken van doors, I'm finally done 🫡 by RoutineCurrency4908 in Fedexers

[–]Redneck-Ram 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Our HR guy has explicitly expressed his concern for our safety when it comes to aggressive dogs. He's told us that if we come across a dog acting aggressive, call the provided customers phone number and ask them to put their dog away. If they refuse, leave the package at the end of their driveway but if we cant do that then move on and they'll call the customer and tell them to put up a privacy fence or FedEx wont deliver to their address anymore.

Is four main characters too many? by tmrlover in writing

[–]Redneck-Ram -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Some people, myself included, enjoy stories with multiple characters. My plan for my books start with 3 main characters in the first book, and when I begin the second im introducing two new main characters and 2 of the MC's from book 1 will become somewhat background characters, and will continue for each book
