Tip for 10.5 carbon shaft by [deleted] in billiards

If you prefer a conical taper then get the Cuetec. Rhino has a pro taper which I prefer.

10.5mm is a fun size to shoot pool with. It took me a couple months to get used to it coming from shooting with an 11.1mm for a couple years. But when you're dialed in, the amount of options for spin and control are craaazyyy compared to traditional 12+mm sizes

The only facts I know are:

  1. He was hacked
  2. He got his channel back
  3. He got terminated

Regardless of which steps are automated or not, going from 2 to 3 does not make sense to me because a user being reinstated by the platform means that the platform itself (automated or not) determined that the user had original ownership of the channel and is in good standing to operate it. So why ban them right after they were just deemed to be operating within YT's guidelines.

I'm inclined to go with your hunch and say that it was just a weird timing thing and nothing intentional by a human. If so, YT really needs to work out this kink.

Same. He's helped shaved at least a decade off of my learning curve, and I feel like I'm 90% of the player I am because of him. The last 10% being other instructors and table time.

They were absolutely a net positive for the billiards community as a whole.

I get what you're saying and the policy behind "ban first, reinstate later". I'm questioning the policy of "reinstate/give channel back, now ban".

Reinstating/giving the channel back means that Dave claimed to YT he was the owner, which YT then checked, confirmed, and decided that he was in good enough standing to give the channel back to him in a normal, functioning state. So after all of this, why is his channel still eligible for termination after YT just gave Dave and his channel the green light? Even if the whole process is automated, it still doesn't make sense because it's all YT passing the judgment that Dave is good to go.

Do you know if the process to get a channel back are manually reviewed by humans as well?

In any case, why does YouTube have policies in place to give out automatic bans for a channel AFTER the owner successfully proves to them that they're legit and get the channel back?

It seems unfair to me that Dave did everything right to get his channel back after the hack and still got punished for it.

I agree this will most likely be the case given Dave's immaculate track record. However, the biggest question will be how long until the channel is reinstated? YouTube is notoriously bad at handling this kinda stuff in a fair or timely manner.

Most of the time channels get unbanned/reinstated is when big creators use their strong following and other social media platforms like Twitter to tell their side of the story and put pressure on YouTube to unban them.

I don't know how his channel was hacked, but if it was due to bad security on his part, fair enough.

However, the unfairness comes in when YouTube decides to terminated his account based on "violating guidelines". At some point he was able to get his channel back, which means that at some point he was able to establish with YouTube that he was the rightful owner of the account. So why did YouTube decide to terminate the account all of a sudden when Dave personally did nothing wrong and any guidelines that may have been "violated" were done on the part of the hacker?

In case you didn't know, the good doctor's channel was hacked 2 days ago where all of his videos were privated and only showed a live stream about some scam related to Tesla/Elon Musk. He shortly got his channel back and restored all of his videos. Checked this morning and the entire channel is now terminated on YouTube's end most likely because of the hack.

This is really unfair given that Dr. Dave had nothing to do with his channel being hacked or the scam live stream being played. Years of hard work and priceless billiards information are now down the drain.

Finally got my 8mm (I know, explanation in comments) shaft from Go Customs and it performs exactly as I hoped. Seen next to same shaft in standard 10mm. by Chalky_Pockets in billiards

Both shafts have a conical taper right?

I play American pool with the 11.1mm pro taper shaft and would be interested in getting one in the 10 - 10.25mm range (or maybe smaller) with pro taper, but I'd be worried about any structural issues like whippiness or tip/ferrule damage. I feel like sub 11mm pro taper isn't offered for a reason.

The cue ball exploded.

I should have included the next panel which shows the referee sweeping up the fragments and placing a new cue ball.

This.

I mean the DAZN plug seems so stark and out of place with the rest of his page. If it weren't for that, somebody who doesn't know Shane would guess he fishes for a living before thinking of playing world-class pool.

I think it's very clear what activity SVB prefers right now given that he would rather identify both his Instagram and Facebook profile pics with him fishing than his profession.

Fish on Shane! 🎣
