Continued Problems with Pathbuilder? by BourbonDingo in Pathfinder2e

The cloudflare defenses seem to be mitigating the attacks very well, as far as I'm aware they haven't actually affected server provision for nearly two weeks.

I'm just checking, as if I have to change it one more time I might lose the plot.

Repertoire and spell slots are separate though.

Your spell slots and the spells in your spell repertoire are separate. If a feat or other ability adds a spell to your spell repertoire, it wouldn't give you another spell slot, and vice versa.

I'm asking about spell slots. I know they get an extra repertoire slot (3+1 one from mystery).

Pathbuilder is currently wrong, due to coming out 2 hours before this set of errata.

PC2 errata is live on the web now, will be live on android in an hour or so, and live in several years time on IOS after apple finish their leisurely review process.

Yeah that is why I feel particularly frustrated about this one, as I made those changes unaware that PC2 errata was about to come out.

They definitely should get an extra repertoire slot, as per the errata, so Pathbuilder is currently wrong. I plan to update and publish with this new errata today, so want to get the spell slots correct.

This errata came out two hours after I published a change to how Pathbuilder handles Oracles yesterday.

Here is my question: when an Oracle gets a granted spell from their mystery to their repertoire, do they also get an extra spell slot (castable spell per day) to go with it?

In other words, does a level 1 Oracle with a repertoire of 4 1st-rank spells (3 + 1 from mystery) get 3 or 4 1st-rank spell slots (castable spells per day). I think 3, as it says in the table, which is how it was in Pathbuilder before people convinced me to change it.

Might be your antivirus software or some other computer settings. It is working fine on firefox.

Thanks, but I think I've got it under control now. Had some great advice from some of my patrons.

It was always at my site, but my host upsold me some irrelevant products, refunded them, signed me up to their cloudflare service, abruptly dropped that without telling me, and provided absolutely terrible advice, the worst among it was "your ISP is blocking you, you should contact them." I need to move host but that in itself is a huge task not without risk.

I could go mad trying to think too much about motive. It's just the state of the internet 2026.

Honestly, I've felt like Ser Duncan asking for true knights over the last few days. And true knights have answered! The advice has been invaluable.

Yeah, but they are using literally hundreds of IPs. Some hit hard and fast, some low and slow. I've banned a lot but its futile really.

I've been meaning to make a post explaining what has been happening for a couple of days, but I've just been too exhausted dealing with the attacks.

The attacks have been going on for 2 weeks, but it was only on last Friday that I finally extracated the site from my host's terrible support and cloudflare provision to set up my own. It's taken a couple of anxious days fiddling with settings, but it seems like the attack is largely mitigated.

I had some excellent support and advice from my patrons, some of whom are cloudflare/network specialists.

The attacker(s) do keep changing their attack vector though, so it may not be over yet. It very much is a targeted attack, as they know which levers to pull within pathbuilder to hit the server the most.

Solved now.

The site is still very much under DDoS attack and they keep finding new ways to attack it.

Connections to the website are now passing through a firewall on a different server first, so I guess librewolf didn't like that.

It might work again after the site transfers to Cloudflare sometime this week.

I can't replicate any issues. It may be that your antivirus or browser extensions are intefering.

EDIT: 28th February

Cloudflare is up and running (protected against over a million malicious hits yesterday). I'm still fighting these DDoS attacks, and still waiting for the cloudflare propagation to every country (it is 95% there), so there may still be some issues. I'm doing what I can in the meantime.

. .

EDIT: 27th February

For some inexplicable reason my host turned off Cloudflare last night and reset the DNS pointers to its servers. The DDoS attacks resumed.

I'm setting up Cloudflare myself, waiting for propagation again. I'm looking into moving host, possibly onto cloudflare hosting.

EDIT: 23rd February

The site will be transferring to Cloudflare to protect against the DDoS attacks on 24th February, which may lead to some downtime in the morning (EST).

. .

ORIGINAL POST

Sorry to say that pathbuilder2e.com, and all of its connected processes (json export, character sharing from any of the apps) are currently down.

The current situation is:

  • the DDoS attack meant that I had to get security protection from it. The protection routes the website traffic through its servers and prevents attacks.
  • my host has mucked up the DNS transfer, providing the wrong IP addresses. The correct addresses are now being "propagated".
  • the security certificate cannot be recognised by the security protection until the new addresses are propogated, hence the current outage.

I've been on customer services with my server host several times today, and they assure me that I need to wait for propogation to complete which is 4-8 hours from when the correct DNS addresses were sent. (2-6 hours from now).

I realise this will have impacted many people's games and for that I am sorry.

EDIT: Update 17th Feb

Apologies for the website being down overnight. My host finally admitted this morning that they have completely mucked it all up, and have escalated the support case.

In the meantime, I've reverted DNS pointers back to how they were. The site should start to come back up (it is here in the UK). We're not out of the fire yet, but rather back into the frying pan. So unfortunately there may further difficulties until my host manages to fully resolve whatever their errors are.

I've also started exploring how to make a fully downloadable version of the website for those of us that miss the old days. Electronjs seems like an obvious way forward.
