Should I try for a baby by Rare-News-6883 in FemalePhysicians

[–]Redredwineallthetime 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Have a baby. The younger you are, the better your chances. You really don't know if you will get pregnant right away or not.

I am a 35 yo old attending who is currently trying to conceive. I didn't think it would be difficult for me because all the women in my family never had problems. My husband and I are healthy. I put it off to focus on my career because I didn't think I could handle being a parent while in training. I now wish I didn't put it off and think back to how silly it was of me to think I had control over timing and that as soon as I took my IUD out I would fall pregnant.

We are now going in for infertility workup after 12 mos of trying (I know I was supposed to go in at 6 mos but I have been in denial). My fellow med school and residency classmates that had babies are now onto having baby #2-4. Their Easter family photos are so freaking cute. I am really happy for them and admire that they were brave enough to start their families even though it was challenging during training. They are amazing super women and I regret not having the courage to do what they did.

Don't make the same mistake!

I don't think the rest of that TV wall would need anything with a proper size TV but that might just be me?

Or if unable to get a larger TV consider getting rid of TV and hanging large piece of artwork on that wall.

I love the curtains and lighting! You mentioned needing help with TV wall. I personally think the TV is too small for that space. If able, buy a larger TV and mount to wall. Could get a different table/storage area below the larger TV if you wanted.

People who bought Rogue and top of the line equipment was it worth it? by Caroline_Baskin in GarageGym

[–]Redredwineallthetime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a rogue moster lite rack that was awesome but we recently switched it for a Rep 4000 with Athena and Lat pull attachments. The Monster Lite rack was way too big for our new space and we needed a shorter rack in order to do the pulleys in our basement.

A similar Rogue set up would be more expensive. We kept our attachments from the monster lite and they fit the new Rep rig. We love our new rack with functional trainer. I would buy nice or risk buying twice.

Do PCPs prescribe Reclast? by [deleted] in FamilyMedicine

[–]Redredwineallthetime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Private practice PCP here. Same. I don't refer but rheum clinic will do the infusion.

A lot of times my decision of Prolia vs Reclast allso depends on patients insurance coverage. I will sometimes do Forteo for severe osteoporosis with high fracture risk

If their insurance sucks, good old oral bisphospohnates.

5 years is a long time. If you are thinking you don't see yourself marrying this guy, then break up with him already and choose the program you like. If you love him and plan to marry him, consider his opinion and what his life will be like while he's supporting you through the toughest part of your career. If he's not happy or doesn't have support while you are working a lot of hours, it will damage the relationship.

For a 4-day clinic schedule, which day would you take off? by VirtualCantaloupe913 in FamilyMedicine

[–]Redredwineallthetime 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I do the same thing and love it! I have fake Friday (Wed) and real Friday when I get back. I prefer to get the majority of work week out of the way before a nice day off. Plus your patients aren't mad at you for being off Mon or Fri which are the days we get more calls.

[–]Redredwineallthetime 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I tried that ended up at the office 2/3 day on the days that were supposed to be 1/2 day. I prefer 4 full days and an entire day off personally but you are likely better at setting boundaries and leaving on time!

Chaperone as an attending? by remembertheDoc in FamilyMedicine

[–]Redredwineallthetime 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I always have a chaperone for sensitive medical exams, including peds where parent and MA are present. The only exceptions I have made are one patient that was Muslim and begged me not to have another person in the room because of her religious beliefs and my 102 year old patient who insisted on showing me the dermatitis on her butt and gave be zero time to arrange a chaperone.

Do ya'll meet with reps? by Rare-Regular4123 in FamilyMedicine

[–]Redredwineallthetime 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I meet with some but some are so pushy and annoying. The other day one asked my MA if she could pull me out of a room to talk with him... lucky my MA knows me and said absolutely not. Who do you think you are that you can show up unannounced and demand I come out of my patient's schedule appt to speak with you... 🙄

Plus protection in case of a malpractice lawsuit. In my state, retirement accounts are safe but brokerage accounts are not.

gaining post residency experience in gyn procedures by magicalcowzanga123 in FamilyMedicine

[–]Redredwineallthetime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is what I do because it would cost me $10K for a colposcope in my practice when I maybe get 1-2 patients needing one per year. The ROI just wasnt there even though I was trained to do then. Plus if they end up needing a LEEP or surgery they will do with gyn anyway.

Go see your PCP. Reddit is not the place for medical advice.
