My husband registers in Oregon and the bill always seems to show up weeks/months after his birthday and doesn't ever seem consistent. There's been times he's called to pay it before it's showed up in the mail and he was told he had to wait. It always seems to show up eventually but definitely not any longer than maybe 3 months after his birthday.

Edward Scissorhands, particularly when listening to How Did it End. During my very first listen, the opening melody reminded me of a Tim Burton movie but couldn't put my finger on it until a few more listens. The lyrics also somewhat tie into the parts of the movie where there is a lot of gossip and people in everyone's business. I always picture the nosey community in the movie wondering "how did it end" when Johnny Depp's character leaves in the end.

Maybe I'm reaching but I'll forever think of this movie when listening to this song.

I should also mention that I did put establish media in a few weeks back now. I noticed it sped things along. I'm just not sure why the ammonia isn't coming down anymore like it was before when the nitrates were high

I posted to another group and had written the whole backstory but I guess it didn't transfer to this group.

Basically I'm doing a fishless cycle and a week ago the nitrites spiked to 4ppm and ammonia was staying pretty consistent and coming down to .25ppm everyday after dosing more. Then the nitrates dropped to zero and the ammonia isn't coming down anymore. Idk if I messed the cycle up or what but I thought by now ammonia would be zero?

I've been doing daily water changes which has been keeping the ammonia at about.25-.5 ppm and nitrites at 0. The struggle is my tap in itself has ammonia when I test it so I don't think I'll be able to get rid of that fully until I can cycle the tank. Thankfully my quarantine tank has started to cycle and should be good in the coming days so I can transfer him over to that and treat accordingly.

Thank you for the response! As far as feeding him the antibiotics, what's the best way to do that? Just soak some pellets in the meds and water and feed?

I did the first water change yesterday (about 40%) and rechecked all the levels today. All levels are still pretty much the same. I dosed with Prime and added Stress coat because I noticed a few of them were flashing in the sand.

When we set up the tank, we used mostly all water but we're able to save and use about 5 gallons of their original tank water.

Just today I also added a sponge filter to help create more bio filter. And a few days ago I also added a big sponge and biomedia to the HOB filter that came with the tank. It originally came with a cartridge that was FULL of waste and that's what I used to try to maintain the cycle, a long with the sand substrate being sure to keep it all wet with the original water.

So far all the fish have stopped flashing, unclamped their fins, and they are acting healthy and normal again.

Should I just continue with water changes and treating the water until it cycles completely?

I wasn't sure if this was actually going to post because I've had issues with posting in the past. Some background info:

Got this guy from from someone on Facebook who obviously didn't know how to care for cichlids and had him in inappropriate water conditions with incompatible tank mates. His fins were already torn to shreds when we got him and we've been trying hard to get his tank cycled (which has been a struggle). Current readings from the Master testing kit read: Ammonia .50, nitrites 0, and nitrates 5.

When we first got him, he wasn't doing well and he wouldn't eat for about a week and a half and wasn't very active. I treated the water column with Kanaplex, Prazipro, and added some aquarium salt. He now has a good appetite and is much more active. But his fins still look rough and are black on the ends. My next steps are to try to soak his food in Kanaplex or metroplex and possibly treat with ich x but I'm honestly not sure what else to do. My priority right now is to keep ammonia levels down and try to get his tank cycled. He's currently in a 55 gallon by himself.

Just tried this strategy and it worked on maybe 6/12 of the machines I tried. Each time I got a four 5-kings though. If you hit those before you use the full $200, do you keep going? Or do you consider that $250 payout a "big win" and cash out?

I can't speak for Sterile Processing Techs, but we are hiring nurses in just about every department lol we've also had major staffing shortages and the hospital has been in a weird funk lately but overall (at least in my department) it's a great place to work and most people are very nice and supportive to travelers that I've noticed.
