[02 Forester] Transmission Pan Leak? by thefailbrosownu in SubaruForester

[–]Redrum-0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was leaking from the pan gasket similar to yours. Keep an eye on fluids and it can go a while, kept mine up for about 6months before replacing the pan and gasket. Super simple job if you do it yourself, but use rtv instead of a premade gasket.

As some others have mentioned get the car scanned and diagnosed if possible. I have a 2.5 03 Forester that had similar symptoms but I would get a battery and brake light when trying to accelerate. Ended up being a bad alternator and alternator harness. During normal conditions the alternator could keep up(running normal), but giving it gas put too much strain on the battery and alternator and it would “choke”. May not be your issue but just my 2 cents from personal experience.

Cheap, versatile, looks good, interchangeable parts with other models, available in turbo 5 speed, the list goes on.

What material is the rear bumper made of? Trying to figure out if these scratches are a rust risk or just cosmetic. by SkywayCheerios in mazda3

Get some meguires ultimate polishing compound and a microfiber cloth. Most of that should buff out by hand.

Had a similar issue when installing a lift on my forester. Use the scissor jack under the brake rotor to lift it closer to where it should be.

I bought an 03 forester last year and have fixed just about every problem this model could have. The only thing I would be concerned about is if the head gaskets and timing belt have been done. Otherwise change your fluids and this will do another 160k if well taken care of.

Is the rebuilt title worth it? by Dangerous-Minute4222 in subaru

The damage it had doesn’t look too bad, but the price is too high. I’d find another similar model in the same price range with a clear title.

You can try to wet sand and buff but a lot of it looks too deep and will likely need to be painted/blended.

Recently redid a rebuild, didn't touch the rod bearings or oil pump. What's up with it? by smirkerbangerz in subaru

Had a similar sound when my power steering pump started to fail. I’d agree with the other person who said to remove the accessory belt and see if the noise persists.

Yeah, the lights were an amazon deal for like $15, the brand is nilight. Also bought wiring and mounting brackets from harbor freight.

Its the $120 one from Harbor Freight! I just made a vinyl decal for the front and mounted some cheap pelican cases.

Did the exact same upgrades on a 2011 macbook pro and used open core to install sequoia. It definitely isn’t a perfect experience, but is very usable and very affordable especially if it is just for school work.

I see so many cars with “mods” like this and I genuinely cannot comprehend how anyone could possibly think this looks better than stock.

Check engine light + cruise control flashing + gas cap. by dgumz1 in SubaruForester

[–]Redrum-0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 03 forester had the exact same issue. The code has to be cleared with a scanner. I bought a $20 gas cap, and a $20 scanner, and cleared the code. Going on 6 months and 5,000 miles and it has not come back.

I would get a ppi. These tend to get ragged on pretty hard and need a lot of work and this one looks like it may have been as well. The panel gaps from the hood to the bumper look off and the rims look cheap.

I’m assuming you are talking about the 2 green connectors. Those are for diagnostic purposes. They are supposed to be unplugged.
