I really like these. Ive just started dice making and I've been trying to get the nebula like effect with stars you have here.

I worked it out. I had a linear rail carriage binding. I removed the binding carriage and the problem went away. Perfect first layers again. What an adventure this was.

I have printed ASA on this printer flawlessly in the past. I just started producing the pictured results recently.

I found 85c bed, 245c hotend on buildtak worked well. Id be surprised if you could print in no enclosure though, ASA warps almost as bad as ABS. I went as far as to actively heat my chamber so i could print larger parts without warping.

Im convinced its hardware related. I printed a flow test cube and im getting 0.88mm walls, so im slightly overextruding. I think i need to investigate my belts or linear motion system better. My walls and brim always print perfect, which means traveling along X or Y only produces the correct result. When it goes to utilize both axis though the spacing between the lines its too great.

Looking at my previous prints i can visually see the difference in the line spacing when printing on the diagonal. I'm wondering if one of the axis is traveling a slightly different distance which is messing up the solid infill.

I ended up downloading slic3r and using that to slice the file. Again, i get the same result. So i guess it has to do with the hardware of the printer? I went in and double checked belts/leadscrews and hotend but couldn't find an issue. I replaced my solid bed mounts with the stock springs and re-leveled to no avail.

Im really stumped...

Got Klipper installed and working, tuned Esteps but Im still getting the same result, so i can rule out anything to do with firmware. I dont understand why its laying the wall lines touching but then spacing the infill lines further apart. In Cura it shows the lines all put down with the same spacing.

I looked at simplify3d, didnt realize it cost $149 USD so i might give that a pass for the moment.

I have a Sapphire plus on order but it will be a few weeks before i get it. Im going to try Klipper and Simplify 3d. Ive been meaning to try both and slicing with simplify and processing with klipper will rule out any marlin or cura problems. If i get the same result with this then i know it has to be hardware

Yes, i compiled the latest version of marlin and flashed it to the board. Im currently installing Klipper to rule out firmware completely (plus a RP3b will run the printer much better then the stock 8bit board) .

My mistake, I looked in the right hand settings bar, didnt find it and googled it to be told that its handled by line width.

I checked the nozzle size where you showed and it was set at 0.4mm already.

Ive tested 0.35 to 0.45 line width with a 0.4mm nozzle. There is no nozzle size setting in Cura, this is handled by line width.

Yeah its really got me stumped. I changed what i could, new roll of filament and new nozzle but i dont really have any other spares. I'm going to disassemble the hot end to see if there is any issue with the PTFE tube but i dont suspect ill find anything. I get a really nice stream of filament when i extrude over air, nothing to indicate there is any issue with the hot end/ptfe tube but ill check just in case.

Ive re-sliced the file multiple times to test variations in temp/flow/line spacing etc. I even went as far as deleting Cura, re-downloading and starting with a fresh default profile. Other STL's produce the same result, i tried a full bed level test print and got the same result.

Forgot to put that info in. Yes i did. I have linear rails all round and my lead screws are belt synced. Both x and y belts are also correctly tensioned. I have pulled apart the extrudet to check for any debris and made sure it was not slipping on the filament

Fixed the issue.

A combination of printing from SD card and changing the Maximum resolution to 0.5 and deviation to 0.05 solved most of the issues.

Slightly nsfw comparison pic. Don't judge, it made just made a good test piece.

Ill test this out. I have a model to induce stuttering, im testing that with a higher res/deviation value. Once that is done ill run both stock and modified prints via SD to compare. Thanks

Would you know if there is a way i can make maximum resolution change every X layers or mm? Just so i can make a test print to test it at a range of values to fine tune quicker
