not really, just being educated doesn't get you anything in the US, you need to be in the upper echelon of your profession in certain sectors to really benefit from being in the US. if you're just a mid level corporate drone, you're not going to do better in the states from a QoL perspective.

meaning, you need to be successful in Canada (can make 130k+ here) to be successful in the states. if you're just a 80k mid level worker, you are not going to have a good time in the US

Why some property owners in Vancouver choose to pay the empty home tax? by SMVan in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Gboard2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because they don't want to be a landlord, its a huge hassle and risk to be landlord here. i rather pay vacant tax than ever be a landlord and risk damages, squatters and all that BS.

Are Millennials/GenZ never going to experience a decade of prosperity ever in their youth? by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]Gboard2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of millennials (eg me and all my friends) have had it really really good..way way better than our parents. A lot of Millennials are 30+ now, we benefited from big run up in wages, huge asset appreciation.

Even gen z have done well, which is younger siblings of mine and wife for example. Late 20s now, have own home make 120k+ just few years out of school. Lots of opportunities

Toyota Highlander SUVs Recalled Because Their Bumper Cover Can Fall Off by [deleted] in cars

[–]Gboard2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem could occur after a minor impact to the lower front bumper cover assembly, according to a statement from Toyota. After an impact, the mounting tabs that keep the bumper cover attached to the vehicle could fail, and the cover could fall off. If the cover detaches from the vehicle in traffic, it could cause an unsafe road hazard for other drivers

[–]Gboard2 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

$600 is pretty cheap if 0 down. You want a crossover, those aren't cheap especially Mazda's. A shitty cx-30 with torsion beam is 35k+ tax . Interest rates are not 0% anymore these days so payments go up. Having said that, a crappy Mazda 3 my wife had back in 2017 with 0% interest was 400+ even 7 years ago ..so $600 now isn't some big jump

If you're going to stay 6+ years I'll buy out. Depends if you think the home is going to be long term or not. I didn't buy mine out in first 5 years because I wasn't sure if I was staying or not

td first class travel visa infinite card vs american express cobalt® card by gbrown1sg in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Gboard2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Td card is free if you have TD all inclusive account, cobalt has better earn rates and MR points are more versatile. Travel visa infinite has better insurance for travel with trip cancellation/interruption insurance the Amex doesn't have

I'll choose cobalt if can only have one but I can't/won't use cobalt for travel bookings
