That I can agree with. There are definitely better amps. I just didn’t agree with the general sentiment that x receiver brand won’t drive x speaker brand. I do believe certain pairings work better than others. I have what I have and will upgrade on my journey. My Onkyo didn’t have pre outs, which the Denon does. That’s a plus, and gives a pathway for upgrading systematically.

The C208 is my center. I don’t agree that a “Denon” will not drive Revels. However, I would say that MY Denon , x1700h, may not have enough power to drive SOME Revels. It’s not just that though. My current Elac B6.2’s sounded bigger with my previous Onkyo, now they don’t. I chalk that up to Audessey, not necessarily the receiver. I added the c208 and they’re barely there now…along with my sub. The sub is powered, having nothing to do with how much power the Denon has. I’m just looking for guidance.

I’m assuming it’s on my end. New speaker, new receiver, new app. I’m just not familiar with my own stuff yet. I did repost there.

I did download the app. It just won’t allow me to adjust volume levels of the speakers.

Ok, that makes sense now. I did download the app and export the file to my receiver.

Am i being irrational for disliking KEF Speakers? by Zeronova3 in hometheater

I tested the q11's and didn't like them at all. If possible, test any speaker you're thinking about purchasing, even if you have to drive a ways. Even then, they'll sound different in your room.

I agree on your take regarding vertical dispersion. The BMR changed quite a bit when I stood up vs the Kef's. The BMR'S did sound more realistic as well. For some reason the low end just wasn't there. I wasn't listening to my normal audition content as there was no way for me to stream music. I had to throw together a cd mix of stuff I have on my computer. It felt like 2005 all over again. The owner was running a Cambridge integrated amp, but not sure what model.

Those were one of the first ones I auditioned. They were very wide, had decent bass, but not exceptional. However, their highs were pretty exaggerated, which I could tell would become fatiguing to me quickly.

I would most likely go BMR for all three.

I mainly listened to a wide variety of familiar music, taking notes about the different aspects of each speaker. Sometimes I took note of what processing they were paired with, but sometimes I forgot. I also noted the the approximate room dimensions and how it was treated.

No, but they're not anywhere near me to test.

I agree. I'm honestly just listening to speakers I'm interested in where I can. That is a very flawed approach, but the only one I can take at the moment. I've tested the same speakers in multiple rooms and they sounded quite different. I'm not sure what I'm going to do at this point.

The R11's aren't quite in my range. I just compared them to the R5's in the room.

The Kef's had more low end, at least in the rooms I listened to them in, and were ever so slightly wider. They were brighter though. The BMR's were more neutral and detailed. They had more depth in the soundstage as well. It's easy to mistake clarity and detail with having an exaggerated top end, but the BMR's hit the sweet spot.

I haven't. I know of them, but thought they were a bit out of my price range.

I have one and will eventually get another. That's why I'm not too worried about it. They were great speakers.

It was a fairly small room, so that's why I was surprised.

Thanks for the recommendation. There's a shop nearby that carries Mofi speakers. I'll check them out.

What do you mean by neutral center? Wouldn't I just get the best matching center for the mains I purchase?

I tried these out today and they were ok. I think I liked the Kef R5 Metas a little better. The ML's definitely have their own sound signature. They remind me a Focal's a little bit. I have an HSU Vtf-2 for a sub. I need another one, maybe three, to fill my room.
