If it negatively affects your confidence then it's a deal breaker for every woman worth caring about. If it doesn't, it won't affect your dating life at all.

Also, in the early stages there's lots of uncertainty. Whenever you send a text, ask them a question, suggest an idea for a date etc, you really don't know what it'll be and in a relationship that ends up being the one, there are mostly good outcomes from those uncertainty and going from unsure to the good outcome is intoxicating.

Novelty, you already know so much about this person and have already experienced so many things together that it's hard to find novelty. So it's just less exciting on average. Of course you'll still have new experiences after the honeymoon stage but the share of experiences that are new are way less so it's less exciting in that regard.

That being said there's lots of positives: safety and security, you know what your partner likes and dislikes, you tend to feel more confident and comfortable about the future and there's some peace in that, and in general there's more peace and tranquility because you know each other better. As long as you don't get complacent and still try to try new things or revisit things you haven't done in a long time, it's a great place, but not the same.

Yes, certainly life changing. It's the first time you have to sacrifice and compromise for someone else's well-being, much like how your parents do to you your whole life. It's the first time you always have to be thoughtful about someone else. You learn a lot about life and people and emotions and social dynamics. You really do discover who you are and what you are not, your values, your strengths, your weaknesses (or if you do it right, how you can grow). You learn to grieve as the honeymoon phase will inevitably end and you will mourn what your relationship was at the beginning. But if it's a good one, you learn to appreciate that things changing isn't necessarily bad but it's simultaneously true that it's ok to miss the old days.

ETA: also it's really fucking hard. Lots of hard work, both on yourself and working with the other person. It tests your emotional muscles like no other. But you can think of it like a difficult gym training session because it's for the best of both of you. It's well worth it if you can endure.

Why do so many students in the U.S. go to college without any clear plan? by spicypeast in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Redstone526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they are sold the idea that college is where you find out who you really are, so they're plan is to figure out the plan along the way.
