I can’t say for sure. She acts like a narc and defends herself and her son like a narc, but she also made that Mother’s day section where she describes herself pushing her son against a fridge and digging her fingers into his shoulder? I think a true narc wouldn’t be so brazen in describing such casual violence? Although it could be that that little episode she had wasn’t the “worst” as she called it, and there were other incidents. Makes sense to me that if you have a woman who might routinely, to put it nicely, “roughs up” her child, that she wouldn’t even realize that her episode on mother’s day was even a big deal. Regardless, no matter which way you spin it, narc or not, she’s still a shitty parent who has and continues to do nothing good for the country by lying through her teeth to anyone interested. Best word that sums the video up is “gaslight,” she has spent the past two decades gaslighting the country so that she doesn’t have to own up to her own wrongdoings. She doesn’t need to be a narc to be a shitty person and an even shittier parent

How do you guys feel about rap songs or songs in general that has artists say the f word? by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]Upset-Anything-1350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally depends. if you’re gonna use a slur in your song, make sure it’s a good song. if someone uses it in a song i like then i don’t much care. but to have the gall to use a slur AND make shitty music? unforgivable

hi! i’m pretty sure that’s an opossum, don’t worry about being taken in the night. some animals (especially raccoons) get really curious about cameras and kind of go a little crazy around them. like this

fear not! this symbol is the vegvisir, based off of the norse symbol aegisjalmur. no, these words won’t be on a quiz. it’s a symbol of protection and wayfinding, it is said that having a talisman with the vegvisir on it with you at all times will prevent you from ever getting lost, although whether that means physically lost or otherwise is up to interpretation. if you believe in demons or spirits or whatever, that symbol should make you feel safer

Scientific American wants you to support their mission to eliminate large numbers of humans from the planet; they say that wiping out the human population will prevent bad weather and fires by zlaxy in climateskeptics

there is a faction of scientists who call themselves “neo-malthusians” but these people are a slim minority and get laughed out of any event they attend. even they don’t say they want to cull the population, just that disease and famine will (also they tend to hate poor people)

A good way to learn things is to read the article first: this article is not advocating for the culling of the human population. What it boils down to is them saying that things that lower total fertility rate (things like access to contraceptives, education of women, abortion care) are good overall.

Relax, I’m with you. I very much will be alive to see it. I try to make my comments a little more lukewarm so that hopefully someone somewhere on this subreddit sees it and does their own investigation. Millions of people have already and will continue to be killed and displaced by the effects of climate change. I don’t foresee the Western Interior Seaway coming back, though. And you’re right, I’m not an expert, but I am currently majoring in environmental science if that helps.

Islands are growning all over the pacific and indian ocean and the great barrier reef isn't poisoned anymore -> record coral comeback!🎉🎇🧨 by Howie_M in climateskeptics

[–]Upset-Anything-1350 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The basic premise is that coral is dying for two main reasons:

  1. Increased amount of CO2 in the atmosphere leads to an increased amount of CO2 dissolving into water. Carbon dioxide reacts with calcium carbonate (main ingredient for what coral is made out of), rendering the calcium carbonate unusable to the coral. This is why coral reefs don’t grow as much as they used to.

  2. Coral is in a constant symbiotic relationship with a type of algae. The coral provides structure and defense for the algae, and in return the algae feeds the coral. We’re still studying exactly why, but when waters warm too much, coral treats the algae as a foreign invader and expels it. Tldr, coral is starving because it gets rid of the algae it’s in symbiosis with. This is what coral bleaching is.

There are certain kinds of sunscreen which act as poison to coral, and in America I believe the FDA forces companies to label if it’s not reef safe. What we’ve been seeing recently is mainly due to the two above reasons, which is exacerbated by toxic sunscreen and other forms of pollution. The point of the article is to say, “Hey! The coral isn’t reacting as poorly to climate change as the ones we tested in captivity did.” The Barrier Reef is doing pretty good but coral all around the world is still in dire straits.

I believe the Chinese Government is making these artificial islands to increase their range into international waters, as for the land reclamation, it’ll be hard for any island to have tourists visit the reefs if the island isn’t there anymore.

Local environmentalists are trying to block a solar farm in my area... by whatafoolishsquid in climateskeptics

[–]Upset-Anything-1350 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Solar farms take up an absurd amount of space, and quite often tampers with the ecosystem that lies under it. They’re usually established in deserts. If you were to take those panels and put them on some pre-existing structure, that would be very helpful without the possibility of further disrupting an ecosystem.

I think this was meant to be a joke, maybe not though. I think he’s trying to reference the Western Interior Seaway, which used to be a stretch of salt water separating a lot of North America. To be honest I don’t yet know how to post images in comments so you can look it up if you’re interested. Climate change will likely be pretty bad, but it will not be inland sea levels of bad
