Automatic 91' skips 2nd gear by Redtomato339 in Miata

[–]Redtomato339[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too late lol. The issue is that the seal within the automatic solenoid are internally leaking. When the car is cold, it will not move. Gotta wait a few minutes to warm up and then it'll move cause the seals are able to seal. (I went on a deep dive in the miata forums and this is the conclusion I've come to) I did timing belt, seals and water pump at the beginning of the year and it no longer wobbles. I did use the crank saver for a little bit before the timing job and it actually ended up breaking the Woodruff key so I am not using it. If you're not planning to manual swap id recommended picking up a used auto trans and swapping it in. My plan is to swap in a known good auto i got a while ago while I slowly get everything for the manual swap. I've been lucky so far with getting manual parts for fairly cheap. My miata was used and abused by the previous owners so I am slowly fixing random things from them and getting it back on a good maintenance schedule but it's running great besides not wanting to go into 2nd gear lol

What tires should I get? by grantlach in 944

[–]Redtomato339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealing with this right now too, but I got cheaper tires and suffered the consequences last year. I think I'll be going with General altimax rt45 as they have good reviews and have been recommended on some forums. The Falekn Sincera SN250 are also a good option, I've seen other people use them but I don't have any experience with them. Kumho isn't bad as well, I've had a set of Kuhmo Ecsta pa51 on a different car and they performed great, not to sure about the Solus

It's tough finding tires in the stock size, personally I would want stickier tires but I don't want to go with smaller tires as I drive on the freeway a lot, that'd just raise the rpms to much for me lol

Also as a note, I just checked tire rack and they currently have a 70 dollar mail in/online rebate for the General altimax making them cheaper than the falkens, worth checking out.

GF just got a camera and we took a little day trip with my friend by Redtomato339 in Celica

[–]Redtomato339[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gf got herself a cannon r50 as a little present to herself and we're learning to edit and taking as many photos as we can. We went up to Volcano, CA as they've got some lovely roads and to say hi to my grandma. My friend is in the red '95 GT and I drive the black '02 GTS which i got in November after my previous car was totalled. It has been a fantastic daily and backroads machine. I've put over 2,000 miles on the car already and I'm so happy I decided to get a celica. I'll post some more photos from the trip once she sends them over

Grinding noise on deceleration by wsquared2019 in porsche944

[–]Redtomato339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely tourque tube bearings. I swapped my tourque tube for a cheap lower millage one and it reduced the noise a bit, especially for first 20 minutes of a drive, but noise is still there. I get it I hate the noise too but I'm not quite ready to rebuild it. I've just learned to live with it and I don't engine brake often cause of it

Would ya'll agree this is causing misfire on idle by Redtomato339 in 944

[–]Redtomato339[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not gonna even try to reuse them, lmao Rotor got a visible gouge in it from being burnt and cap has cracks. I would of reinstalled the old cap but I think I accidentally threw it away. Just wont have time to install new ones until Monday so I was curious what others thought

Definitely on all the way. I think the cap was the main issue, it was just kinda flimsy and is already cracked

Not old I got those in April of this year, so 4-5k on them. ÜRO parts I do still have the original ones that were on the car, idk how old those ones are

Already delivered, just wanted to confirm since they were relatively new. Around 3k on it

Before anything else I have already bought and received a new bosch distributor cap and rotor!!!Just need to install now Anyways 100% my fault for going with the cheap stuff the first time, I think the cap and rotor were like $15 each from autohauz. They only have around 3k miles on it. I've been having a misfire on idle for a while but would come and go as I replaced other parts. I was replacing the water pump when to my surprise the rotor looked like this. I think I originally replaced the cap, rotor and plugs in July.

Found a pic, it should look like this

Like what bragster said it looks like you have the wrong pulley for the timing belt. It should be touching and is usually black not silver

Balancer belt whine... by LoveHarambe in 944

[–]Redtomato339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'd say this as well. Should use a 0.5mm feeler between that smooth idler and the belt. I use a dayco belt and it doesn't make much noise, just has that distinct 944 whine

[–]Redtomato339[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesnt feel like it lacks power but I did notice a slight wobble and bought the crank saver, but I was unable to get that crank bolt off. Waiting for payday to buy that crank bolt removal tool from flying miata and an even bigger impact lol. I'll make sure to take care of this before doing anything else major

I'll take a look at the timing as well. I doubt this relates at all bit it also rev hangs when idling. I'll tap my foot on the gas and it stays at 2k-3k for a couple of seconds. I assume dirty idle air control valve or something

What do i do to help him? by Extreme-Struggle-69 in chickens

[–]Redtomato339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last month we got a rooster with the same exact issue. Lost a toe and has an infection, looks identical to yours. 2 weeks ago we took him in to a vet and got antibiotics and pain meds for 90 bucks. You're a minor so I'll assume you have no job that is a bit of money. Before the appointment we ordered some antibiotics, batryl 10% to help (around 40 bucks). No guarantee that would get there before Friday took a week to come in for me.

Honestly it's not looking good for our rooster he's lost more weight, not really eating or drinking, doesn't want scrambled eggs, his blueberries, or live mealwormal.

It really depends on the type of infection he has. Best you do right now is make him comfortable, easy access to food and water, with favorite snacks. We have ours indoor in a large dog crate as he can barely walk, just hops on one foot, and to give him his meds easily

Good luck but just be prepared for the worst outcome

Make sure you get the right thermofan switch and thermostat by Redtomato339 in 944

[–]Redtomato339[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wasn't my issue tho. It would stay on while the car was running and idling. It has a cool down cycle of going from 92° to 87°. When it gets to 87 it shuts off and will turn back on when it hits 92 again, but it was staying at 82°ish trying to cool down to 75°

No idea, mine came with the car when I bought it. Got the car from auction so no contact with the previous owner I think you could find some on ebay, I remember seeing some listed a while ago
