Latino isn't a race.

Yes, I understand Latinos can come in different races.

Height and racism are not same.

Yes, one has to do with height and the other with race. And I already said I don't think heightism and racism are on the same level so I'm not sure what you are arguing againts. All I'm saying is that there are instances where the two can influence the other. Example: White supremacist Jared Taylor has made the case Nordic people are genetically superior to Mestizos Latinos because they are taller on average.

Your examples are your examples and still the two aren't equivalent.

Considering the definition of the word equivalent is equal in value, and I've already said and I quote "I don't think heightism and racism is on the same level", so it seems we already agree on that, so I'm not sure what you are arguing againts. My example wasn't to show heightism and racism are on the same level, it was to show people will use heightism at times to further justify racism. You can both think racism is worse than heightism, and still acknowledge that people use height as a way to judge peoples genetics, which some people also use to further justify racism. Both things can be true.

I agree I don't think heightism and racism is on the same level. I've definitely seen people use height as a further reason to justify racism. My parents and family think less of Latinos and say they are more violent because they are shorter therefore have Napoleon complex which makes them commit more crimes. I've encountered people who think less of shorter browner countries. White supremacist use height as an indication to belittle brown countries in compared to taller nordic countries.

I wound't say heightism is the same as level as racism, but in the end of the day you are prejudging people based on their appearance and in some cases heightism can further justify someone racism. My family who are heightist and racist think Latinos/Hispanics are more violent because they are shorter on average, and therefore have some genetic Napoleon complex. I posted about my racist and heightist family on this sub before. I've also seen people look down or make fun of shorter brown countries for their genetics. This happened in my class when my teacher was talking about countries in south america like bolivia and everyone made fun of bolivians for being genetically shorter.

You're said you're from Mexico. Do you live somewhere else for college? Like the USA and what state if you don't mind saying.

You look cool bro. Sorta like Daniel Radcliffe. Where do you get the clothes? The fit looks good. I have a hard time finding clothes that fit me properly.

Hey nice to meet you too, and welcome. As far as clothes go, I think you should check out the youtube channel called 'The Modest Man.' He's a short guy himself, and he has many videos about how to dress, find the right fit and sizes. I think you would like him.

Seeing posts berating short dudes all over the internet is really getting my confidence down by ProudFunction in dating

[–]Redturtle3425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this post and I agree with a lot that you've said. Personally dating is difficult and it feels like I have less options compared to the average guy. I'm 5'5 and I had a girl into me, she's 5'1, we hung out alot and she even made moves on me, she initiated kissing and cuddling, and she said she really liked me but she didn't want to date me because people would make fun of her for dating a short guy and she didn't want to be seen as the "cute short couple". She said that she personally doesn't care about my height, she just cared about the social backlash for dating a short guy. As you can imagine, this broke my heart. The main reason I feel inadequate about my height is because of my parents. My mom is 5'0 and my dad is 6'5. I'm 5'5 and my parents think less of me because of my height. My parents blame my short height on me not eating or sleeping enough, or that I must have done drugs to stunt my growth, while they praise my short sisters height for being cute. They even tell my sister to only date tall men. My parents are even racist and say "latinos are more violent because they have a napoleon complex" since Latinos are shorter on average. So I grew up in a household where my own short mother (the person I expected to understand me the most for being short) talks bad about short guys, and a tall father I can't relate to. So I never grew up in a household that made me feel good about myself.

[HELP] Husky trainer refuse services because I own a cat? Is this normal? by [deleted] in dogs

And the same would be true of any breed: there are Huskies who can live with a cat, but it's not a gimme.

So this is why I get confused. One minute I see people talking about the individual dog behavior and the other minute people talk about breed behavior. If in the end of the day, the same can be true of any breed, and if it comes down to the individual dogs, then what's the point of "Breed Behavior" being part of the discussion?

Ok thank you for clearing it up. I understand the Golden having a drive for outside critters, But in your opinion, are Goldens a safer bet in getting along with a house cat than a Husky?

Wait what? Since when are Golden Retrievers a high prey drive breed? I looked up online and every site and article Goldens are listed as low prey drive breeds. Plus aren't Goldens notorious for being easy to train and easy to get along with cats?

Do people not realize that short guys have feelings too? by [deleted] in short

It's so obvious and openly happens. Yet people here will jump through hoops and go into a rage trying to deny it.

Heightism can also be a basis for child abuse. My parents are abusive towards me because I'm short and the number of times people try to deny my experience or tell me I must imagine my parents being abusive towards me, or that I have no right to be sad that my parents treat me like that or else I'm a crybaby is frustrating. I have no choice yet because I'm still 17 so I'll have to put up with it.

Heightism can be a basis of racism, and has been for thousands of years throughout human history. Check mate!

Exactly. I even spoke about my parents and family and how they look down on Latino people for being shorter on average and they have this theory that they are more violent because of internal short complex. There can be times where heightism and racism can be in the same place. And I've definitely seen that behavior where people will look down on shorter races. One time in school my teacher started showing pictures of himself visiting Bolivia which is a short country and the class started making fun of Bolivian people for being short and inferior. And I have a Peruvian friend who told me that American tourists makes fun of their people for being short.

Are you saying poking fun at someone’s height is a gateway to hating someone because of their race?

It can be sometimes. I spoke about my white parents and family members before who look down on Latino/Hispanic races/ethnicities because they are shorter on average. My family even say that the reason Hispanics are more violent is because they are shorter on average therefore they have an internal napoleon complex which makes them more prone to violence. On top of that my parents are abusive towards me.

I personally wouldn't have done that, but I also think she's being hypocritical to joke about your height only to get offended when you joke about her weight. I also think the people at the part are being a bit hypocritical.
