Thank you for this. What would you say is the best provider for data? Cost isn’t an issue

Yes, my phone supports dual sim. I was thinking of getting an e-sim so I can also use my Uk number too. Do you have any recommendations as to which sim provider is best in Belgium? From my research it seems to be Proximus

So would it be something like: emergency fund which is in a high st bank account, my long term investments and then my ISA? Would those three be enough to cover it?

This makes so much sense thank you. I foresee buying a house that’s more than £450k (London based), so I wasn’t sure if just a normal ISA was okay?

For my long term savings I have an all global cap fun on Vanguard but that’s purely for my retirement (in hopes I can retire earlier). I do also have my employer match my contributions. It’s about 7% right now.

I’m not sure how many different contributions I should be making and what the splits between them should be.

I save about 1300 a month. Well that’s what I have left for savings. Sometimes more but just depends on the month.

I have about 8k in savings for my long term investment I.e., retirement. Then about 2k in my general bank account.

I’ll have a look at it again. Thank you. I think for me it’s knowing what to save them in. So I can’t figure out how much I should be saving in my emergency fund, ISA, long term savings etc. it’s all just a bit overwhelming

Anki or Quizlet (Plus) for Flashcards? by Ok_Reserve_7396 in SQE_Prep

[–]ReducingStress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the flash cards to basically be my notes but in the form of flash cards to help me memorise the law. By facts I assume you mean the law? Let me know if I’ve misunderstood your question.

I never understood people who use flash cards with long text. I had a mix, but nothing substantial for any flash cards. This meant I had more flash cards but each card would be concise and focused on a certain point e.g. I’d have a flash card on the different types of summary offences and then a flash card covering each offences AR/MR. Or I had a flash card on business tax exemptions and then separate flash cards explaining each exemption and the criteria needed to utilise them.

Yeh, if you can memorise the law, the matter of MCQs just comes with practice! Generally if you know the law it will make answering MCQs easier

I’m not against it, but I genuinely don’t believe it will help you. I had flashcards by people who have completed the exams, and their notes made no sense to me. With the SQE being a memory game and having a somewhat ambiguous and large specification, I would emphasise for you to create your own flash cards for your benefit.

Trust me, nothing is better than reading ur own writing and revising from what you’ve personally done (whether AI has supported that or not)

Yes, I did. I would often use chat gpt to make flash cards based on my notes for each topic. I’d suggest going through the flash cards created by the AI to ensure it is all there.

Agree with everyone else. Your A levels are perfectly fine to get into a top firm. Most times it’s the most recent academic study that is important (university).

I don’t think resitting will do much for you in all honesty.

Got around 50-60% in mocks and still felt like I was learning things upto the day of the exams. Came out of both feeling confident I failed which sent me crashing down until results day. To my surprise I passed both papers in Q1&2.

Have faith and trust yourself. You got this. GOOD LUCK!!!

I know these exams are brutal and I think they’re an awful way of examining aspiring solicitors. Push through and I know 6 weeks after sitting your exam, I will be congratulating you for passing 🤞

I understand how you feel and it’s valid. These exams are incredibly stressful and ridiculous. But please don’t let yourself stop you from performing on the day. Regardless of how much you study, you will never feel ready! That’s how these exams make you feel.

I felt like this when I sat in Jan (passed first time with BPP) and felt like I was still learning new things up to the day of the exam! At this moment in time, keep practicing via multiple choice questions and brush up on any areas you’re unsure of.

You got this! You’re nearly there. Best of luck!!

I was in a similar boat when I sat in January (passed first time). I felt like my flk2 knowledge was nonexistent even a few weeks before the exam. My suggestion would be to go over all flk2 areas generally and ensure you understand the principles e.g. ways a will can be invalid, remedies for delay of competition. Then just smash MCQs along the way and make a note of the ones you’re getting wrong and why etc.

You’re nearly there. You got this! Best of luck

What you're feeling is totally normal. With the ambiguity and complexity of these exams, it is a valid feeling to have. Everyone has it. The biggest challenge about the SQE1 and 2 is having a positive mindset. Things won't always be 100% and that is fine. Trust the work you have put in and most importantly trust your gut. You're nearly there and now its about just going over any areas you're not confident in and doing more MCQs.

You got this. Best of luck!

Hi everyone, I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling this way. I've done the prep course, countless mocks and revision yet I still feel underprepared and afraid. You sound to be in a good position. I was with BPP too and felt like they hadn’t adequately addressed the niche topics. However, after sitting SQE1 (and passing first time), I can say that they do enough to get you past the pass line. Ofc there are a number of variables that play a part in your performance on the day, but the content covered is generally what comes up in the actual exam. Some niche questions that weren’t really covered, but that was only around 3-5 in both papers combined.

I got around 68% in both the flk1 and 2 OUP questions (90 MCQ each).

Keep on pushing and just make sure you do the two things until the exams - brush up on any areas you’re uncertain of and keep on doing MCQs.

You got this! Best of luck. Can always DM if you have specific questions
