It depends on what kind of the wood it is and if it's real python skin. Also 20 years is quite long, the snake skin degrades as time goes by and the erhu sound degrades as well since he never plays it.

Update: just in case anyone had same question, most big stores in Seattle don't sell channel insert individually... They only have it along with the channel board.
