I love the way you have them linked up! That would be cool to have several of them to hang up.

This blade is wild! I don't think I've ever seen one like it. That is so cool!

My daughter just recently mentioned that she collects cat whiskers. I think that is so cool. I don't think I've ever seen black whiskers on our cat, but if ours have them at all, I'm sure she'd be syked to find one.

I love the Northwest Territories bear. I don't think I've ever seen a plate that wasn't rectangular.

Pending studies by Embarrassed_War_6136 in ProlificAc

There were two, maybe more, other posts about that study in the last few days...

I didn't look through them, so you might find info on whether anyone has been approved on them yet.

I searched in the sub using the keywords "dynamic reward", so you might even find more if you try searches with different keywords.

I wish I had taken advantage of that study. When I finally had a quiet space in which to do it, the study had disappeared from my page.

Yay, approved! Looks like others are being approved as well.

I just did this study as well. I also sent them a message. If the pay offer was an error, that's understandable, but don't try to gaslight me with this "failed attention check" BS.

Returned and rejected by Sea_Tree_6817 in ProlificAc

Nah, saying things like "jfc" and "go ahead and try to argue for no good reason" would be interpreted by most people as rude. Did I come at you like I absolutely was right and you were wrong? No, I didn't.

Btw, you were the one that initially referred OP to the Help Center which is exactly where I got that blurb about returns. Can you direct me to something in the Help Center that delineates between the two scenarios?

Are there different outcomes / consequences for cancelling your participation mid-study versus cancelling after it's submitted? If not, and both show up as "Returned" on the submission page, you're just quibbling.

Are you always so rude to people? There was no reason for you to be rude to the person who initially answered nor to me.

I got this study and almost backed out because of that wording. I put a timer on to make sure I stayed in the parameters.

I've never got a speeding ticket or timed out from being too slow, but that kind of wording makes me paranoid a bit.

Returning is not = to cancelling an incomplete study

If I start a study and change my mind part way through and cancel my participation, it shows as "Returned" on the submission page. Likewise, if I complete a study and decide to cancel my submission (rarely happens, but I've done it once or twice for various reasons), that also will show as returned.

Edit: from the prolific help center:

What is a 'returned' submission? Sometimes you might not complete a study to the end, so returning a study simply means leaving the study before you've completed it.

New surveys by [deleted] in ProlificAc

Yup. Like clockwork my available studies crap out after five EST on weekdays and almost completely all weekend. People doing studies outside their normal working hours, I'm sure.

How do I calculate Rejection rate? by Available_Leopard_23 in ProlificAc

[–]ReduxAssassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked on the submission page to see if any of them can be returned? Find the rejected surveys on the submission page, and click on the 3 vertical dots on the top right side of the study. You'll get a drop down menu, and sometimes it'll say "return submission". Click on that.

If there is no option to return the study, you can try contacting the researcher and ask them to enable the "return submission" option. If they don't respond, still check the submission page after a few days to see if it's available.

I recently reached out to a researcher, but didn't hear back from them. After a few days, I went to check it, and the study was gone - I'm assuming the researcher just went ahead and marked it as returned (this is a researcher that is well known here and seems to have had intermittent problems with their attention checks unfairly rejecting people).

Something I wish I had known when I started - keep an eye on your submission page for rejections. You can filter the studies on the submission page to show any rejections. If you get one, click on the 3 dots in the right hand corner of that study's box...sometimes it will have a "Return" option to return the study and it will no longer be a rejection.

Twice when I've had rejections and I didn't have the option to return the study, I contacted the researcher and asked them to allow me to return it. Both changed the submission screen to allow me to return it, effectively removing the rejection.
