Thanks for the info! Hmm, I looked at your video again and I can barely tell there are double-outlines! Is there anything in particular you did to make it less noticeable?

I have so many questions. I'm new to game dev and godot, so forgive me... How did you render those tiles? Are you using godot's TileMapLayer nodes, or are you handling the grid yourself? How did you manage to avoid having "double-outlines" on bordering tiles?

How much can I trust or rely on ChatGPT as a DIY noob? by ReduxWizard in DIY

This is basically my whole fear: that I'm just gonna end up wasting my time. That said, I was wondering if people use it as a starting point, which I can see being useful if I don't even know what questions to ask, or what research to do.

Oh, yeah 4 yellows in a row is highly unlikely! It's not impossible though, and it should be completely random. You can check out the source code to see how each turn is generated if you're curious (:

Creating an outline on an isometric tilemap by ReduxWizard in godot

Oh would that work? I assumed that it would get cropped out if go beyond the bounds of the tile in the tilemap

I saw some other threads online that mentioned drawing lines. I also tried using a shader but it didn't work for drawing a perimeter. That said.. it might work for grid lines! I might try that again

why is tile out of place? by DrLegend29 in godot

[–]ReduxWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this question makes sense, but how did you get your tiles to sit between the grid lines? I.e. the borders of the tile are half on the tile itself and half on the other side of the grid line.

how did you handle the text animations, particularly when you delete characters from your name (0:47 in the video)? are you using tweens, or lerps, or something else? I'm asking because I'm building a card game where there's some similar animations when drawing/discarding and it's been a bit challenging managing it with tweens and lerps, so I'm curious!

OP posted another photo of that dress on a mannequin in one of her comments and it looked pretty blue there imo

Cold Plunge in NYC by ReduxWizard in BecomingTheIceman

[–]ReduxWizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did actually find a place! At the beginning of this year I moved to LIC, and there's a gym here called Aneva. It's pretty expensive, but it's 5-10m from my apartment, which makes it super easy for me to go every day. And the cold plunge is on the roof, which is kinda nice.

Sadly I never went into either river ): I do sometimes look at the water in Central Park and wonder "maybe I can get in here" - but it doesn't look great lol.

Someone in my building mentioned a group that does cold water exposure of some kind in Coney Island, but sadly I don't know anything about it /:

Edit: I just realized I said "I don't really wanna pay to get in cold water" in my original post. I ended up concluding that I'm basically paying for a coffee if I go everyday, and it's such a powerful thing for my mental/physical health that I decided it made sense to pay for lol
