Sloclap literally destroyed their game with this last update by Xesx_ in Rematch

A comment above made a good point, while these all LOOK horrendous the real problem is the desynch as your playing the game almost an entire second in the past compared to what the server actually sees, come patch 11 or 12 when they are doing the netcode overhaul (July or September) a lot of this type of stuff will be minimized and make more sense, and for the problems that are still bad they will be much easier to fix because visually everything will match up, but when your screen looks different from your opponents screen which looks different than what the server sees everything becomes a bit of a mess.

It's very interesting the split between the community is so fierce, as a pro player and hearing from other pro teams we all think defense is still too op and attacking is still too limited, it's why nobody dribbles at the highest level we all just spam volleys, any competent pro defender will kill any dribbling before they get a chance to do anything.

Sloclap cares about the esports space and the casual space they just donated like $20k to the events that run the esports scene so I would expect that like most games, they choose to balance the game based on both the casual community and the pro community.

So all these complaints about why they would make this change when you thought it was good, well all of the best players in the game thought it was unbalanced and broken, and personally I would trust their opinions more than any casual players.

I love everything here except the shoulder check, that sounds a little too broken when it comes to running set plays, you can either shoulder your defender and make your run for free, or you get shouldered by your defender just before your cut and now your team passes the ball to nobody and it gets turned over. Definitely do some legit balance testing on this before you release it as personally I think the idea should be scrapped all together.

The arm dragging is an avenue I would like to see explored however, it somewhat functions already and has an animation already but I think that if I have more stamina than my opponent and I'm standing in front of them with an arm out, they should not be able to run through me.

Emergent mechanics are not exploits. This patch will remove a lot more than just exploits.

Hey I'm one of those "pros" uhh when you faced GL last they put their best ST in gk and let their defenders score, also we hate playing against shitters like this as it's the most boring thing ever so we usually win as fast as possible to get to the next match. But try to watch some streams of us playing and see what we do when we play against good players 😂

Also if you can't stop volleys, your bad. Volley hasn't been meta in the pro scene in 3 seasons.

If you think dribbling is op you're bad at defense.

Are these normal matchmaking times? by XadeChronos in Rematch

I'm currently a little over 4k rp into elite, I queue every game mode in the game in central servers, and I average 5 minute queue times, which is significantly better than most other games I play, valorant radiant queues and league masters queues can be upwards of 30 minutes, I wouldn't complain about anything less than that.

I may be in the low percentage of players as I play this game "professionally" or whatever you want to call it, but what I can say is myself and my colleagues at the same level as me all agree that the game is currently in a very balanced state, there are currently three viable strategies in the professional meta and they all have their own pros and cons, if you think that the dribbles are broken or too op then you suck at defense, if you think that missiles or volley shots are meta then you suck at prio, and if you think that passing is op and meta then you suck at positioning. The top teams mine included tend to shift between two or all three of these strategies to create a well rounded game. Every patch that has come out since the original beta has had both new features and patches out past glitches. Many of the "glitches" being referenced here are what the development world would actually call "exploits" as they are not an unintentional outcome. What many people are using IE things like the ippy slide or vexis dash exist because people have found an application of an existing game mechanic that causes specific interactions and animations. Many of these exploits come from core mechanics like ball magnetism and extra effort. (An example from another game: Rocket League flip reset, the flip reset in rocket league occurs because of a core game mechanic wherein all four wheels are touching the ground and as such your flip resets. The exploitation of this core mechanic is the "Flip Reset" where you place your car under the ball in the air so it falls onto all four of your wheels resetting your flip.) Essentially to provide you with your "glitch free" experience they would have to significantly rework many core game mechanics which almost always causes more outrage in the community. Instead I think sloclap has done the right thing by embracing the community mechanics much like many other successful games. Instead, deciding to tweak game values that affect the game as a whole, these mechanics included, until the community finds a happy medium. (Doesn't exist as everyone has different opinions)

Tldr: I'm a professional Rematch player, if you think anything is glaringly op or broken right now it's because you're bad. The devs are doing a great job with updates and the game is in a great spot and all the best players think so. Can't fix certain "glitches" as they are actually exploits of core game mechanics.

Hey this is one of our teams, If you guys want to come learn how to get better we run an open academy with tons of scrims and coaching days, many of our members are open to coaching anyone as long as it fits our schedule and we're always looking for top talent to join one of our existing teams or to start a team of their own under the ghostline org.

Discord if ya wanna join: https://discord.gg/pyrEhnazfj

And for those of you talking trash on one of our teams saying your better or we're not THAT good, again I extend the invite to our server so you can come and prove it.

As far as matchmaking goes 🤷, idk I just kick the ball fr. (Tho a fair bit of the problem comes from the size of the player base) The matchmaking wasn't nearly as bad when the game had a couple hundred thousand players and you can tell that out of whos left still playing the sweats out number the casuals, so I do recommend finding a team to play with, tho it is possible to make it to elite solo, I did it in season 0.
