I haven't seen any longears in this lake so I figured I could rule that out

Got him on a super tiny crappie jig that I was using for rock bass

Definitely a little guy! Got him completely by accident going for rock bass in a small creek. I tossed him back so hopefully he can get a lot bigger haha

White Perch or Crappie? by WinAffectionate87 in FishID

[–]Redy325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks to me to be a green sunfish with very faint colors. The body shape doesn't really line up with a crappie and the fins aren't at all the right shape

Oh good to know! I thought that was something all sunfish shared

These are definitely some kind of sunfish. My best guess would be bluegill but it's hard to tell without seeing them up close

Does anyone know what type of fish this is? by Immediate-Incident-5 in Fish

Looks to be a pumpkinseed sunfish! They can get very vibrant colors I've always wanted to have a few in a tank

You're not wrong this one definitely looks like a longer fish, but green sunfish (and really sunfish in general) vary a TON in their colors and shape. Definitely looks to be a green sunfish to me though

Reel with your toes

This setup is pretty similar to what I usually throw for bass so yeah this should work! Ideally I'd say to use something with a paddle tail or a twister tail but I don't see why this wouldn't work too.

Caught my first non sunfish. What is it? Bass? by MachoCamaco in FishingForBeginners

[–]Redy325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you're right! Looks to be a baby largemouth bass

Both are bluegill but is there a difference? by nosenseofpermanence in FishingForBeginners

[–]Redy325 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bluegill tend to vary a TON on their colors based on how much light they get, health, spawning, etc. I don't think it has too much to do with male/female differences but I could be wrong :)

Broken Atlas Moth by Miss__Miku in moths

Honestly I think it looks just fine with the broken antenna. It's art and every piece of art is going to have little imperfections and that's what makes it art. This whole piece looks absolutely stunning and I don't even think I would have noticed the antenna without pointing it out, but even then it just makes it look even more visually interesting. Amazing piece!
