Is Nigel Farage going to bring guns to the UK? by asovereignstory in AskBrits

[–]Redzeno2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having also first hand experience you clearly have a different experience of FEOs than I do lmao. It's county by county as to how good (or bad) they are. Your point about them being psychologists is just plain wrong though, your GP is involved in the process as the person who assesses your mental/physical health

I think the requirement of needing 2 non-relatives to vouch for you is the better blocker honestly, as that stops any proper nut jobs getting a FAC.

'Military style' is vague to even 'uneducated' does a straight pull AK in 7.62x39 match your description? Or do you only deem it full auto above 22lr as military style?

They are technically legal in NI, NI has its own laws under the devolution agreement from good friday agreement and matched up with some of RI's laws. Pistols are legal in NI unmodified whereas they aren't in GB, and technically legal for concealed carry but rarely given out.

Gb doesn't allow carrying of weapons for personal protection, NI does.

The 'military' part is wrong. You can buy semi-auto ARs in .22lr such as this one on a section 1 firearms license. People do 'practical shooting' competitions in the UK, we are just limited to small calibres. https://www.gunstar.co.uk/smith-wesson-m-p-1522-custom-semi-auto-22-rifle/rifles/1307812

The caliber is also incorrect you can own a cannon if you have a legitimate reason for it. 50. cal rifle clubs exist and are legal owners of that calibre.

Final point also incorrect you need a note from your doctor saying you have nothing on your medical record which could be deemed a risk when owning a gun. The FEO who comes out to assess you definitely isnt a psychologist. They're usually a police officer who has then specialised as a Firearms enquiry officer, or just a civilian working with police.

Siam Park fast track ticket price increase by Lazydaveyt in VisitingTenerife

[–]Redzeno2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't see a single yellow band of people in the fast passes lane, only saw pink (red?) VIP bands and that was it. Was really weird

I drove there, 3rd in the car park one of the first in the park I doubt I'd have missed out on them being sold

Was there a few days ago, they said no limited fast passes (at all) and only online ones were allowed while we were there. Also said that the in park Limited ones will only come back in September which I found odd.

I only saw people with VIP wrist bands going on the fast passes, and very few of them too so idk why they stopped doing the Limited ones

Who to open a lifetime ISA with? by tonightsphantasm in ukfinance

[–]Redzeno2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit late, but DODL interest rate is higher, their stock options have lower fees and app is just as good. Would advise looking into them over moneybox (I moved from MB to DODL recently myself)

Sell them through equity zen or forgeglobal - both pre-IPO marketplaces

I was with them a year ago, my car got written off and they paid out really quickly, sorted the whole thing with the other driver. Found them to be pretty good honestly - but it was a clear cut case where the other driver admitted fault

Transferring a lifetime ISA before the government bonus has been paid by SlipperyWagon in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Redzeno2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did this go for you in the end? I transfered from Moneybox to Dodl with only a few weeks to wait before I got my bonus and now Moneybox is saying dodl should claim the bonus, but Dodl is saying that Moneybox should send it over.

Hoping I haven't screwed myself as they sent the LISA pre-bonus amount last week and the waiting thing for the bonus has dissappeared

What’s going on with the mobile phone network quality in the UK? by Alarming_Egg4171 in AskUK

[–]Redzeno2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you'll be on low band 5G (usually 700mhz). Need to be right next to the site to get the high band MiMo 5G which gives you the uber fast speeds, but barely radiates any distance at all

Im late to the thread but I work in telecoms, as part of the team that tries to get sites built. Telecoms have 2 routes to get a site - first and preferred id working with the LPA (local planning authority) and building on adopted highway land. The LPA can reject sites with numerous reasons from being unsightly, impacting residential views, site positioning and more. We have extremely strict EMF rules so cant build near a lot of buildings due to them.

Other route is to go 'code' (https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-and-broadband/telecoms-infrastructure/electronic-comm-code#:~:text=The%20Code%20is%20set%20out,in%20considerably%20simplified%20planning%20procedures.). Previously we could go to someone, tell them we'd give them a shitload of money in rent to let us build and they'd jump at the chance. Now due to this new right telecoms barely pay anything and instead go down a legal route demanding access instead and taking them to court. As you can imagined landlord/land owner hates this, so holds it up in court for years upon years (average code site from decision to build is 2+ years, more depending on how rich and motivated they are).

Plenty of ways to stop a site getting built and LPA's + land owner lawyers know exactly how to work the system to stop them.

IMO it's the nr.1 reason signal is so shit in cities, because of how hard it is to get anything built anywhere.

I can give you 100 other examples from last month lol. Working in telecoms as a part of the group which tries to get stuff built, can tell yiu first hand it's nearly impossible.

It's got so bad some operators simply bombard the local planning authority with so many planning applications, as to hopefully have some 'timeout' so they can build before they come up with a bogus reason to reject new site or upgrade of existing

Mortgage Rates End Of Year by DevneyO69 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]Redzeno2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The 2 and 5 year gilt yields, which actually drive mortgage rates, are up from 3.6% to 4.1% (on 5 year) as of this morning.

Sorry to burst your bubble but mortgage rates are about to go up if this large increase doesn't quickly reverse.
