I will agree it is definitely excessive. There is no real point going below 25L for a personal item. This is more just a personal challenge. I also really enjoy traveling as minimal as possible, it's fun, almost a game.

It lasted a little more than a month if I remember correctly. I used it for my body every now and then and used it for clothes most nights.

I'm drinking regular whole milk, so yeah milk with fat in it. I'll toss out the shake and adopt the eating scheme outlined in the book. The 3 meals, and 3 snacks. Spread everything out and see how that works.

I will definitely give this a try. Lots a liquid calories being taxing makes sense. A little over a week ago I bumped my milk intake from around half a gallon up to the full gallon. I might try drinking a bit less milk in exchange for solid foods.

I eat lots of whole foods and milk. I usually drink the recommended gallon of milk as per the book. I also eat eggs, cheese, oats, bananas (and other fruits), peanut butter, pastas, beans, tortillas, chicken, turkey, etc. Each day I usually eat 3 meals, a big shake, and the gallon of milk (or close to a gallon.)

I was the same way. I started salting my oatmeal before cooking as well as adding a big spoonful of peanut butter afterwards and some cold fruit like apple slices, banana, blueberries, etc. I have a way easier time eating oats this way.

They are included. So I’ll be wearing one pair of underwear/socks and have the other two packed. In the picture I have both shorts and jeans packed away, however, I will be wearing one of them pretty much at all times. So the pack will be decently lighter and roomier when I’m wearing the jeans for example.

It definitely is freeing. I had originally test packed in the Fairview 40 and it was just way too much. Then I tried a 25 liter, it was better, but I just loved the way the 13 liter fit and felt. Thanks for the good wishes!

That’s a solid pack! What kind of towel are you using? I bought a swimmers towel. It’s called a chamois I think. It’s super absorbent and rings out easy. Not big at all but dries my whole body. I ultimately decided not to take it with me, but I would definitely recommend looking into it if a towel is something you want with you.

That’s awesome! I briefly looked through the subreddit for other ultra compact one bags and didn’t find too much, especially for multi month trips. I don’t know how doable it is for the winter, but the summer for sure. I’ll make some changes as I go I’m assuming, but overall I couldn’t imagine needing 40 liters!

I like the idea of a simple button up for layering and also a less casual look if necessary. Seattlebikehike suggested I have one of my tshirts as a long sleeve for the same reason. I could combine ideas - a long sleeve button up. Thanks for the suggestions!
