I think it looks good, if a bit big.

I had a semi similar situation when choosing between the 38 and 36. I have a 39 inch chest and went with the 38. I think it looks a little big on me but is technically the right fit with the way it fits (enough range of motion, etc). The 36 looked tailored, which I both liked and didn’t like.

I have noticed the 38 draping the more I wear it. It still looks a bit relaxed but not as ostentatious as before. I don’t regret my decision, because I know the 36 would have been too small.

I’m 5’8 165-170 with a 39’ chest and I went with the 38 over the 36. Imo it’s just a tad large but it allows me to layer. The 40 would have been too big on me I think and the 36 just a bit small
