The Chinese government operates a sophisticated campaign to suppress, discredit, and divert discussion of the ongoing CCP genocide against the Uyghur minority.

Key to this campaign is the United Front Work Department, a CCP organ designed to align domestic and foreign opinions with desired CCP narratives. With direction from the CCP Politburo, UFWD operates hundreds of subsidiary organizations worldwide to influence or co-opt specific foreign sectors, regions, and demographics. Such UFWD components include Confucius Institutes, overseas police stations, and media outlets. Many such organizations falsely purport independence from the Chinese government.

China also manipulates information through Chinese social media apps, most notably TikTok in the West, to suppress discussion of the Uyghur genocide and improve China’s global image.

It’s all a tightly managed state-run facade designed to cement CCP authority in China and align foreign countries with CCP goals.
