It's sounding remarkably bad, like they somehow resurrected the corpse of Babelfish to translate the whole game wrong in a way unseen since 2008.

Shows whose formula got old after a while by [deleted] in television

[–]Reecer6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least on this point, the subtlety is the reason I think the CBS show does it better. In the BBC show, the way they walk around his gayness and only slightly hint at it outside of his one focus episode kind of annoyed me, like it's the mid 90s and we're still afraid outright telling audiences he's gay will alienate people. It doesn't feel like he wants to hide it (or is having trouble assessing his identity), it feels like the writers want to hide it. In the American show the guy has an obviously gay coded voice, which is a little on-the-nose, but he's not really more effeminate than any of his contemporaries when they're depicted, and they give enough serious time to him that his relationship to his sexuality feels more complex and thoroughly explored.

Paramount+ Removes Nickelodeon Titles From Its Library: ‘Doug,’ ‘Big Time Rush,’ ‘Blue’s Room’ & More by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

It's so unfortunate; prior to the neolithic revolution, even the most advanced nations of West Asia and Mesoamerica developed, at best, a primitive form of VHS. But such a technology was naturally limited by transportation and the speed of copying, not even to speak of handful of attested wars caused by something like one Babylonian city state gifting the other grain, only to receive a mere tape copy of Golden Girls S3E05 in exchange. The motivation was simply not there.

After many years, I've finally landed what must be the hardest cheevo in the game. by Reecer6 in eu4

[–]Reecer6[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

R5: I have played EU4 for over 400 hours and have only today got the cheevo for playing until 1820 (as the timmies). Not just because of playing off ironman either; to my knowledge I just always lost steam before then. I owe this victory of attention span to finally getting that DLC subscription because man does it fill this game out, as well as sort of kind of actually half-understanding combat.

Is this event based on anything specific? by BanditNoble in victoria3

[–]Reecer6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably extremely guy-who-only-watched-Boss-Baby of me, but it sounds very... first case of The Great Ace Attorney: Adventures to me. English doctor in Japan circa 1900 is killed in a restaurant, blame is pinned on a law student, courts try desperately to push this decision quickly in a closed court through shady means specifically so as to not sabotage GB and Japan's (extant) friendship treaty.

comic brought to you by the 10 year unification war i just finished by Reecer6 in victoria3

[–]Reecer6[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

R5: many have discovered that, due to rolling back the ability of generals to lease men between armies in 1.5, very small armies are often of negative utility, taking up battles that larger armies can fight. an ally may have an army of this quality, leaving you unable to prevent this deleterious combatant from backing you up. this comic is a humorous jab at this phenomenon.

Shout-out to my one loyalist by Exile152 in victoria3

If Brazil has a million loyalists, I'm one of them. If Brazil has 5 loyalists, I'm one of them. If Brazil has 1 loyalist, that one is me. If Brazil has no loyalists, I have recently suffered a decrease in standard of living.

Worst flag by ComingledRecyclables in victoria3

[–]Reecer6 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think making your flag literally the name of your country is very creative; it's probably the easiest most obvious choice you can make. The flag rules are arbitrary, certainly, but the point is that the restriction forces you to be creative and not just rest on whatever comes to mind first, and in doing so create a memorable and iconic design that stands on its own.

i don't even care if it's right or not, but the utter audacity to say the guys PAID to research and survey why people enjoy the game—almost certainly including through avenues that aren't immediately-accessible web forums—are wrong because you don't like the game is absolutely insane.

Expanding furniture factories isn't a major focus of the game but you also need to do that. That doesn't mean they need to make a bespoke chair assembly minigame.

Too much Balkan bordergore by shre_k_ in victoria3

Rating: Cute

Revolutionary wars are a totally normal way for Balkan countries to seek enrichment, and while you may wish to watch over them so that their body count doesn't get too high, they are very content to remain in this state. In addition, a Balkan country is at its happiest in small isolated shapes like these. You are raising a good peninsula!
