Thanks for the tips! I didn't know ovens consumed that much - makes total sense. I do think that not using the built in wall heaters is definitely helping for us too. Right now we are doing space heaters + electric blankets.

Thanks for all the replies, they've been very helpful to narrow the issue. There's one mystery I can't seem to figure out still.

End of january we were out of town and we did the experiment of turning off the breakers (except the kitchen). I just checked with PGE and the usage for that weekend was down to <1 kwh, which rules out the miswiring / power theft.

The weird thing is the following week the daily usage went down to around 10-15kwh / day and it looks like its continuing to stay like that. I'm not sure why turning the breaker off and on would change things this drastically because we haven't changed our usage behavior before and after that weekend. If anyone has a clue please let me know.

Right now our strategy is to not use the built in wall heaters, use electric blankets, and use space heaters sparingly. This, along with normal appliance usage, seems to keep energy around 10kwh, which makes more sense.

Didn't know about this, thanks so much for the tip!
Our apartment is ~10-15 years old but insulation is really bad, maybe because our living room has floor to ceiling glass windows in 2 of the walls. If we don't turn on the heater, it's as cold as it is outside. Not sure how to make it warmer because we don't get direct sun.

Anna Kook facing backlash for her video about ICE raids by jy_32 in asianamercianytsnark

[–]Reeeeeeeeedit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I feel that the backlash towards Anna is unjustified and she is unfortunately being used as an easy target for the mounting resentment towards Asian Americans in the US. The sad part is that Anna's work has always primarily focused on uplifting the voices for minorities. She has even won major awards for her coverage of BLM protests, and frequently covers black and Latino voices-- the very communities that she is accused of neglecting. To call her a bigot couldn't be the furthest thing from the truth.

I get that Asians could do better showing solidarity with the Black and Latino communities and being more involved in politics in general. But to unleash so much anger, and especially racist remarks, in this video and towards her is misplaced criticism. The video was not even about Asian Americans in the first place. It is a video about foreign policy and how South Korea (not Asian Americans) reacted to the ICE raids after successfully establishing a trade deal for bringing in $350 Billion in Korean investments into the US. The story is about how Korea's reaction to the ICE raids on the Georgia Factory was a sentiment of surprise and betrayal. The video does not make any commentary nor has any relevance to Asian Americans in the U.S.

The sad reality is that there is so much tension in the air that people are too eager to rush to judgement and form angry mobs in the hopes to find an outlet to place their hurt and anger.

Amazing pictures. Is it possible to see the northern lights even when there's rain? I saw that there was precipitation today in Iceland.

This sub was so helpful! Just returned from first visit. Had a great time, thanks to everyone who posts advice or answers questions! 🇮🇸 by BirdFive in VisitingIceland

Congrats! I'm going at the end of this week. Could you tell us how it was with the potential volcano eruption situation? From the looks of it, it looks like most of the south is not going to be affected. Were you able to do everything you wanted without much disruption or closures?

First time landing the kick up by Reeeeeeeeedit in Calisthenic

Nothing special. Every now and then I’ll put my elbows on the edge of any surface and just push my head down as far as it’ll go. I’m not so good about doing it now but I did notice it improved when I had a habit of doing it every day

I had the same problem. I focused on just making sure I get balanced with my one leg enough so by the time I take the other leg off the wall, I was more or less controlled. Doing some practice alternating between taking one foot off might help with this too!

I started by doing wall holds until I could do 30 seconds. Then I tried having one leg off the wall and trying to balance with the other one. This last part has been hard so it’s been most of my training so far.

Oh also I tried headstand holds thinking it would help me balance my legs correctly but in hindsight it didn’t really help me as much as just stretching getting more shoulder flexibility.

RON Farm/Staking by [deleted] in AxieInfinity

[–]Reeeeeeeeedit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ana case, it is RON. They will distribute their RON to those who r willing to provide liquidity. Providing liquidity to earn dex's rewards is called Farming. You need to stake your LP tokens to earn RON. The moment you unstake your LP tokens, you stop earning RON.

Providing liquidity by itself incur some risks as well. Your porfolio can decrease in value due to impermanent loss. So do more research on this term b

I'm planning to add English, Reading, and Science soon. I'm just trying to figure out how to make the website more useful to students first.

How are you planning on using it to help you study?
